October Meeting Recap – Phoenix Asian American Lions Club

What a wonderful October meeting filled with service, learning, celebration, and fundraising for our upcoming Rocky Point Mexico Mission!

👓 Eyeglasses Sorting Event
We teamed up with our parent club, Phoenix Phil-Am Lions Club, for an eyeglasses sorting event led by their Vision Chair, Lion Ding Torno. A huge thank-you to the 35 Phil-Am Lions members who volunteered their time to help us prepare eyeglasses for those in need. Together, we are making a difference, one pair of glasses at a time!

👂 An Ear-Opening Presentation
Our social kicked off with Lion Stephanie Beebee of Earlux, who gave us an informative presentation about how hearing loss occurs and how Earlux helps improve hearing and supports our community. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

🎃 Halloween Fun & Celebrations
Congratulations to the winners of our Halloween costume contest! We also celebrated our October birthdays and enjoyed the fun and fellowship that make our club so special

🏆 Congratulations, Leo Advisor Jhen Facto-Aquino!
We are proud to congratulate Leo Advisor Jhen on receiving the Leo Service Award for the 2025–2026 year, presented by our 21N District Governor, Lion Marsine Perry. Thank you for your dedication and service to our Leos and community!

🍬 Fundraising for Our Rocky Point Mexico Mission
A big thank-you to Team Kat Casarez-Perkins and Richard Perkins for preparing an amazing assortment of Halloween treats to help raise funds for our upcoming mission

Through the combined efforts of Team Perkins and Team Zeny Gowans and Tony Gowans, we raised an impressive $870 at our September and October meetings—just $130 short of our $1,000 fundraising goal-

❤️ We Still Need Your Help! ❤️

We are still accepting monetary donations to help us reach our $1,000 goal. These funds will help us purchase:
🎒 300 backpacks for children
✏️ School supplies to fill the backpacks
💙 Requested necessities for a local senior living home

Every donation brings us one step closer to fulfilling these needs and making a meaningful impact in Rocky Point

First Lions Vision Roadshow — What an Amazing Day of Service!
Today, Team Perkins held the 1st Lions Vision Roadshow at the Sun City West Lions Club! We were thrilled to have 8 members of their club join us for this special day of service. (Their snowbirds are still away)

Lion Rick showed the members how to use the Lensometers, while Lion Kat demonstrated how to sort the glasses into readers, prescription glasses, and sunglasses. Lion Laurie, a member of the Sun City West Club was also on hand helping everyone as she learned the ropes a few months ago.

Sun City West had already collected several bags of glasses for us, and we brought 2 additional large boxes to add to the collection.

Together, we read a little over 100 eyeglass prescriptions and sorted over 1,500 glasses into their appropriate groups. And the best part? Everything collected and sorted today will be taken to Mexico for our October 16–17 Mission Outreach, where these glasses will help provide the gift of sight to people in need.

A huge THANK YOU to the Sun City West Lions Club for opening their doors, collecting glasses, and hosting us in this important Vision Roadshow service project!
