"Your mind, your emotions, and your feelings matter. Being a teenager is hard, but being a Black teen carries a unique set of pressures. You don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. It is perfectly okay to say, 'I'm not okay today,' and asking for support is the ultimate flex of strength."
Based on the results, many Black teens, whether in treatment or not, faced serious mental health challenges. Many had experienced trauma, struggled with depression, had thoughts of su***de, or used substances.

Shockingly, nearly 1 in 4 teens who weren’t in treatment had symptoms of an anxiety disorder, even though they hadn’t been diagnosed.How can you support your teen who may be struggling with their mental health — especially if they haven’t been diagnosed or don’t feel comfortable seeking help? The resulting trauma typically damages relationships in several specific ways:Trust Issues: Past betrayal makes it difficult to believe that new people are safe, often leading to suspicion or holding partners responsible for the actions of past abusers.Hypervigilance: You may constantly look for hidden motives or signs of abandonment, causing you to misread neutral interactions as threatening and react defensively.
