A group of four black rabbits, about 4-5 weeks old, were left unattended across from Davy Crockett School shortly after 5 am on Monday. It is hoped that a Good Samaritan has rescued them or notified animal control to safeguard them from the heat.

Neighborhood Report: The influx of homeless individuals typically subsides as temperatures rise. Incidents have occurred involving gated alleys where homeless individuals have established campsites within fenced environments. Abandoned vehicles persist as an issue near the Copperstone on 32nd Street Apartments, prompting police to tag and remove them. The vehicle encampment at 33rd Street between Roosevelt and Garfield continues to be a concern. Overall, the neighborhood remains safe.

The neighborhood meetings will be on summer break. Due to low participation in the past, we will resume meetings in October.

A number of neighbors are dealing with health issues and post-operative recoveries, which has led to decreased social interaction as many prioritize their well-being, particularly those over 60 years old.

It has been noted by several neighbors that Energizer Max AA alkaline batteries effectively power Blink security cameras, despite the manufacturer's recommendation for lithium batteries, which are considerably more expensive. Blink staff were asked about this finding and stated that cameras may start to have problems with alkaline batteries. Other neighbors are using replaceable lithium batteries on their Blink cameras. Its up to you to give these options a try.

If law enforcement officials visit your residence due to an excessive number of vehicles on the premises, you will be issued a citation, required to appear in court, and subsequently face a monetary penalty. One of our neighbors has 7-8 inoperable vehicles surrounding his property, which may be attributed to his advanced age, health issues, and recent loss of his wife, as well as the closure of his yard business. Perhaps it would be prudent to consider his circumstances and refrain from taking action against him. Give him some time to get things straightened out.

Property violations: the policy has changed. If you have two complaints within a year you will have to go to Court and be assessed a fine. Neighbors are paying $800-$1,000 to the City.

The Tunnel lights at 34th Street & Roosevelt should be up and working by the end of next week. Finally after waiting 6-7 years. Thanks to Zach Wallace, Chief of Staff for Vice-Mayor Hodges-Washington. He took this matter upon himself. He proved his worthiness to this neighborhood. Wednesday, May 27, 2026
