Your Art Your Story

After 9 wonderful years of serving our community through creative expression, Your Art Your Story is winding down its direct non-profit operations. We are excited to share that our programs will continue through ongoing partnerships with dedicated community organizations and individuals who are committed to keeping these creative spaces active.

Our core programs will transition to trusted partners. We are finalizing the details of these transitions and will share complete updates soon. To everyone who has participated, volunteered, supported, donated and partnered with us, thank you for being an essential part of Your Art Your Story over the past 9 years. Even starting this organization was bittersweet, and so is the wind down. We will share more information with you in the coming weeks as we work through the process.

That’s a wrap on our 5th Annual Mental Health Awareness Art Show!
As this year’s exhibition comes to a close, our hearts are full of gratitude.
Today, we’re celebrating the artists behind the art by sharing many of the portraits featured in the show. A heartfelt thank you to every participating artist. Your contributions sparked meaningful conversations about mental health, healing, grief, hope, and connection—and reminded us of the powerful role art can play in helping us feel seen and understood.
A special thank you to our co-curators, Rachel Barlow and Kurt Von Berhmann, for helping bring this exhibition together.
And to everyone who visited the gallery, shared our posts, supported the artists, and supported our mission—thank you.
The exhibition can still be viewed online (see link in bio) or https://www.yourartyourstory.org/blog-main/virtual-exhibit-mental-health-art-show2026may

Today's featured artwork is Encircling Stillness: A Search Within, a multimedia artwork using pistachio shells and textured art by Sudarvizhi Mathiazhagan.

“This work speaks to mental health and the journey toward inner balance, showing that stillness is not always found by escaping noise, but by moving through it and returning to oneself.”

Through layers of texture, circular forms, and golden tones, Sudarvizhi explores the complexity of our inner world. The pistachios moving toward the center represent people navigating layers of thoughts, emotions, and experiences in search of calm.

The work offers a quiet reminder that finding peace doesn't always mean escaping the noise. Sometimes, it means moving through it, becoming more aware, and finding our way back to ourselves.
