💙 Children’s Grief Awareness 💙
Today we honor the strength of children and teens grieving someone they love. When that loss is by su***de, finding understanding and hope can feel especially hard. We’ve curated a list of age appropriate books to support young people experiencing grief. Some of these books are interactive to inspire journaling and conversation. Click the link to explore the list and share these resources with families who may need them. Together, we can remind every grieving child they are not alone.

I’m truly honored to be named an Arts Hero by On Media for my work with Your Art Your Story. We create art spaces to support survivors of su***de loss, with a goal of providing opportunities for connection and creative expression. This recognition is not just for me, but for the artists, volunteers, and community members who make this work possible.
Thank you, On Media, for highlighting the power of art to transform, comfort, and bring people together.

During the Unspoken : Survivor Stories exhibit, our community came together in powerful ways — creating, reflecting, and sharing through art.

From prayer flags carrying messages of hope, to broken bowls mended with gold, to the laughter and connection of Art Play Day, each workshop showed how creativity can inspire, connect, and give voice to unspoken stories.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who participated and shared their light — the artists whose work created this powerful exhibit, volunteers who facilitated the workshops and helped with set up and clean up, and to our wonderful partners, the mood room , AZ Art Alliance and Arizona Artists Guild, for helping make these experiences possible.

Join us this Saturday 9/13/25 from 1-4 PM at Mood Room for a hands-on Kintsugi Workshop. The ancient Japanese practice of kintsugi teaches us that brokenness is not something to hide but an essential part of our wholeness. In this workshop, participants will select a ceramic bowl, break it, and thoughtfully transform it through painting, writing, and repair.
This will be the third time that Tess Mosko Scherer and I will co-host this workshop and hope to see you there.

✨ Creating Healing & Hope through Art

In recognition of Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, we gathered for a special prayer flag-making workshop facilitated by Rachel Barlow at Unspoken : Survivor Stories art exhibit yesterday. Many thanks to Rachel and everyone who came to yesterday's workshop at the mood room! Also, thank you to our generous donors and community partners who provided materials, fabric and volunteers to make this free workshop possible.

Through this process, we’re joining a collective effort to support and uplift one another. Swipe through to see some of the beautiful prayer flags created during class. Each one is a reminder that there is always hope, even in the hardest moments.

The exhibit is open to the public in person through September 28.

Closing Post – 2025 Mental Health Awareness Art Show
We are honored to feature John Talbot and his powerful piece, “Still, Joy.”

As we close this year’s exhibition, John’s artwork is a beautiful reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength to find joy even through life's challenges. "Still, Joy" speaks to the courage it takes to keep moving forward and is a fitting closing message for this years' Mental Health Awareness exhibition.

Thank you to all the artists, supporters, and participants who have made this year’s exhibition memorable.

Stay inspired, keep creating, and remember: You are never alone.

Today's featured artist is Michael Groff
Today, we’re proud to feature Michael Groff, an artist who finds peace and calm through his work. As Michael says, “Art brings me a sense of calm. I feel at peace when blending colors and tone, watching as shapes emerge to create forms.” This soothing process of creation is reflected in every piece Michael creates.

Visit the 4th Annual Mental Health Awareness virtual gallery to see more art by Michael and other artists who are helping to raise awareness by sharing their stories to inspire others. The gallery is open!
