Statement from candidate:
I’m running for Outreach Director to help expand SHPE’s mission of inspiring the next generation in STEM. Through my time with SHPE UA, I’ve led and supported outreach initiatives reaching hundreds of students, including a 200+ student drone egg drop workshop in collaboration with Honeywell.

I’ve worked with schools, sponsors, and volunteers to bring these events to life. Now, I want to take a more direct role in building and leading them.

My goal is to grow SHPE Phoenix’s outreach by reaching more schools, strengthening partnerships both current and new, and creating more hands-on experiences that spark real excitement in students, just like what we saw at Noche de Ciencias last year.

I want every student we reach to feel inspired, capable, and excited about their future in STEM.

I am running for Treasurer of SHPE Phoenix to support the organization that supported me when I first moved here. As a web developer with a background in psychology and professional experience as a coach and teacher, I bring strong communication skills, adaptability, and a big-picture mindset to everything I do. In the 6 years since starting my job at Accenture, I’ve grown from an apprentice to an associate manager by consistently learning, leading, and building trust.

Growing up, money was tight and financial education was non-existent, so I developed practical, hands-on experience with budgeting, managing credit, and planning for long-term financial stability. Hello SHPE Familia! I’m running for SHPE Phoenix vice president to continue giving back to our community and the organization that has played a decisive role in my academic and professional journeys. I have been an active member of SHPE for nearly 13 years: beginning with the Arizona State University student chapter, where I served on the executive board as outreach director, academic director, and graduate ambassador, and now as a professional member. I am now a Lifetime Member, a mentor in the ASU MentorSHPE program, and have had the honor of serving as both vice president of membership and president of the SHPE Phoenix professional chapter.

My SHPE student chapter was foundational to my growth as a professional. It gave me tools, confidence, and a network I still carry with me. The professional chapter is where that foundation gets built on, and I want to be part of making it stronger.
