🗑️ Garbage Disposal Dos & Don'ts 🏡
Help keep your kitchen plumbing running smoothly by knowing what belongs in your garbage disposal—and what doesn't!
✅ Safe to Put Down the Disposal:
Small food scraps
Soft fruits and vegetables
Citrus peels (in small amounts) to help freshen the disposal
Cold water while the disposal is running
🚫 Never Put These Down the Disposal:
Grease, oil, or cooking fat
Coffee grounds
Eggshells
Pasta, rice, or bread (they expand with water)
Bones or seafood shells
Fibrous vegetables like celery, corn husks, onion skins, and asparagus
Fruit pits
Nuts
Paper products, plastic, or other non-food items
💡 Helpful Tip: Always run cold water before, during, and for about 15–30 seconds after using the garbage disposal to help flush food particles through the pipes.
