2026 Mid Year Conference💙❤️🏜️

Wow—no words can fully express the happiness I feel from this conference. From meeting new people, to the strong representation we had from the Western Region, my heart is so full. You all have my heart always—thank you for coming out and representing our communities with so much pride.

To my amazing Executive Committee, thank you for being the best team I could have shared this opportunity with. And thank you to the UNITY team for making this experience possible.

Until then, we’ll see you all in Oklahoma City for UNITY’s 50th Anniversary! ❤️💙

Lios em chaniavu, ketchem allea!
Hello everyone and may creator walk with you all🌱🤎

This past Saturday, the Western Region joined together for the 41st Annual Native American Connections Parade under this year’s theme — “The Future is Ours.” UNITY had the honor of being the Grand Marshal for this year’s parade, walking proudly alongside our UNITY team and a few of our amazing Youth Councils who joined in the celebration.

Even though the rain came down, the energy, laughter, and unity never faded. Every step we took was a reminder of the strength, pride, and resilience within our Indigenous communities. To walk together as Native youth, leaders, and culture bearers was a beautiful reminder that our identity is powerful — and that we should never be ashamed of who we are.

We continue to carry our traditions, voices, and stories forward with pride, showing that our future truly is ours to shape. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to represent and walk with us — through the rain, through the songs, and through the spirit of togetherness that makes our people strong. 🌎💫

Lios em chaniavu, ketchem allea?
Hello everyone and may creator walk with you all.

Every Child Matters is more than words — it is a truth we carry in our hearts. It is a reminder that every child deserves love, safety, and the chance to grow surrounded by their culture and community. On Orange Shirt Day, we honor the children who never made it home, the survivors who carry their stories, and the families who continue to heal.

I am thankful to the Pascua Yaqui Tribe Prosecutor’s Office and Tribal Council for inviting me to share a few words at the Every Child Matters walk. A special thank you as well to our Yoeme Youth Council for showing up and helping in our community — your presence is a reminder that our future is strong when we stand together. Walking alongside our elders and our youth reminded me that this work is for all generations — past, present, and future. Together, we stand in remembrance, in healing, and in the promise that every child will always matter.🧡🪶

This past weekend, I had the honor of being part of several meaningful events within our communities, each carrying its own spirit of tradition, leadership, and celebration.

On Friday, I joined the Pascua Yaqui Senior Center for their Senior Royalty Coronation. It was a beautiful moment to witness and be a part of, as we crowned the new Senior King and Queen for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Louie Burruel and Linda Burruel. To see our elders celebrated in this way reminded me of the wisdom and strength they carry, and how they continue to guide us by laying the foundation for the generations to come.

Saturday was just as special, with two events that uplifted our youth and our culture. I first attended the Yoeme Youth Council Inauguration, where I and Earth Ambassador Laylalanai Gocobachi was invited as special guests. It was an honor to speak a few words to both the outgoing and incoming council members, encouraging them as they step into their roles and continue building upon the work of those before them. Our youth truly are the leaders of today and tomorrow.

That evening, I had the privilege of attending the Miss Pascua Yaqui Pageant. I was able to share words of encouragement to the outgoing and incoming royalty, reminding them of the important role they hold in representing and carrying forward the beauty of our traditions, culture, and people.

This weekend reminded me of the balance our communities hold — honoring our elders, uplifting our youth, and celebrating the royalty who represent us with pride. I am grateful for the opportunity to be present in these spaces, to witness the transitions of leadership, and to celebrate the strength of the Yoeme people. ✨🩵🤍❤️

Lios em chaniavu, Ketchem Allea!
Hello everyone, and may Creator walk with you all! 🌿
My name is Amaya Escalante. I’m 19 years old, and I’m a proud member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe from Tucson, Arizona.
I am honored to be your 2025–2026 Western Region Area Representative!

It is truly a privilege to serve and represent the powerful voices of our Native youth across the Western Region. I look forward to uplifting our communities, celebrating our cultures, and creating spaces where our youth feel seen, heard, and empowered. I’m especially excited to connect and network with other Native youth—building relationships, learning from one another, and growing together in leadership and purpose. Let’s walk this journey together in strength and unity. ✨

Also if you, or your youth council would like anything to be shared on this page, please feel free to mention or send a message. 😁
