Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation

Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation AFFCF granted our first award back in 1984. We paid $29.61 for an 8 year-old boy in Prescott to take flute lessons.

Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation creates opportunities to build self-esteem and empower children and youth in foster care by funding services to enrich their lives and lead to a successful transition to adulthood. Since then, we have paid more than $14M in awards, serving more than 77,000 children all over Arizona.

What happens when 15 nonprofit organizations are put into the same space with each other? They mingle! πŸ’™ 🀝

Last Thursday, Phoenix Community Alliance (PCA) convened 15 nonprofit Members inside Snell & Wilmer's office for their first Downtown Community Involvement Fair. The goal of the event was to bring visibility to each organization's unique services and create further connectivity and relationships.

And from what we've heard from Members, the event and its mission was a roaring success! Thank you to Snell & Wilmer for creating additional opportunities for our membership. ✨

PCA Members in attendance: πŸ‘‡
Arizona Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation, Circle the City, Genesis City (Genesis Academy), Global Ties Arizona, Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, The Harmony Project, HopeKids, Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, New Pathways for Youth, Phoenix Center For The Arts, Rosie's House: A Music Academy for Children, Sounds of Autism, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and Valley Youth Theatre.

πŸ’™ Back-to-School Moments Made Possible! πŸŽ’βœ¨

A HUGE thank you to West Valley Mavericks Foundation for inviting AFFCF to your back-to-school event and generously providing $2,600 in Kohl’s Cash to support children and families in our foster community! πŸ§ΈπŸ’š Your generosity helped make an important milestone a little brighter for families preparing for a new school year. πŸ‘©β€πŸ«πŸ«

One of the recipients was Julie Valencia, an AFFCF Post-Secondary Program scholar, who used her Kohl’s Cash to shop for her adorable son, Elijah, as he gets ready for kindergarten! πŸ₯ΉπŸ’™ And look at him rocking his new Kohl’s shirt on his first day of school! πŸ“šπŸ‘•

Julie shared:
β€œI was able to get my son some school clothes and some shoes in order to get him ready for kindergarten. He loved being able to shop and look around with mom, which is something we don’t get to do as often unless it’s a grocery store since money can be tight sometimes.”

Thank you, West Valley Mavericks Foundation; your support gave our foster community more than school clothes and shoes. It allows them to create special memories and helps kids like Elijah start the school year feeling confident and ready to learn. πŸ’™πŸŽ’βœ¨

There is something so special about seeing an entire community come together with one purpose: helping children begin the school year with confidence. 😎✨ We are incredibly grateful to be part of BHHS Legacy Foundation's Backpack Buddies, where children in foster care, their bio siblings, Title I students, and kids from military families receive the essentials they need to walk into school feeling ready to thrive. πŸŽ’πŸ“šβœοΈ

AFFCF is proud to be part of a coalition of community partners, including local Title 1 schools, Catholic Charities, and the IRC to support children in need. πŸ’šπŸ§Έ
