Arizonans for Better Healthcare issued the following statement regarding the signing of H.R. 1 into law:
“Our coalition of payers, doctors, nurses, hospitals, Community Health Centers, behavioral health organizations, and a broad spectrum of healthcare providers has been sounding the alarm for months about the devastating impact of the healthcare cuts in H.R. 1 will have on Arizona’s healthcare system and patients. We are extremely disappointed in the final outcome and are deeply concerned about the reductions in services and care that will occur across the state as the federal government cuts billions of dollars to Arizona’s healthcare system.
We are already seeing the impact in other states as hospitals and clinics have announced closures due to H.R.1. Our coalition will monitor and track the impacts to hospitals, providers, and patients across the state as H.R.1 is implemented and educate state and federal leaders, as well as the public, about the real-life effects of H.R.1. We remain committed to providing high quality care to all Arizonans and assisting those impacted by H.R.1. Healthcare coverage is critical for maintaining a healthy community and keeping costs manageable for all patients. We will help educate those who are eligible for AHCCCS and federal marketplace insurance about changes to the programs so they can maintain coverage and continue to receive care.”
