PREPARE : EDUCATE : ENGAGE
We are a group of dedicated volunteers building community resilience through education, local events, and service under the direction of the Daisy Mountain Fire Department Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) since 2004, the group was created to train, and incorporate volunteers to assist Department personnel should a disaster occur. Today, both CERT and Fire Corps
operate under the umbrella of Citizen Corps, managed by the Daisy Mountain Fire Department and share the Department's Mission Statement and espouse a parallel Mission Statement, Vision Statement and Rules of Engagement at file: http://bit.ly/DMFMCC_MissionPlus
The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards and emergencies. They provide in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Once trained, people can choose to become part of the CERT team to assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. The Fire Corps program promotes the use of citizens to enhance the capacity of the Daisy Mountain Fire Department. Once trained, members can help with many necessary tasks that can be performed by volunteers in the fire service every day such as assist with station support assistance, community outreach, and incident rehab teams. This is a wonderful way to support the men and women who aid us in times of greatest need, by seeing to the everyday needs of fire stations in our fire district.
