The Laveen Community Council is excited to announce the Laveen Turkey Trot is returning for it’s 15th Amazing year, to Cesar Chavez Park in Laveen, and will be held as always, on Thanksgiving Day (November 25, 2021). tunities which foster community engagement and good sportsmanship in a healthy, fun and competitive environment. approaching the end of the second year of the Pandemics to continue our tradition of being Laveen's Annual Kick Off Event for the Holiday Season, and creating an event that remains focused on the Laveen, community and togetherness. Our Vision for the Laveen Turkey Trot has always been for the community to gather together a way to express thanks and gratitude for one another, as we enter the holiday season in these challenging times. The Mission of the Laveen Community Council is to promote, and ensure the welfare of the Laveen Community and it's Youth. The Community of Laveen is one that is built on fellowship, goodwill,
and pride in what it means to live in Laveen. Many of our residents operate locally owned small businesses. Businesses which have provided an invaluable resource to meet the needs of our residents and other businesses alike. The efforts made and the help provided have served to make the community, and it’s resilience, stronger amidst a once in a century pandemic. The community as a whole, and individually are integral to the vibrant cultural heritage, unique identity and Pride of Laveen; and even more so having been impacted by Covid-19, and as we push forward to brighter days.. The Laveen Community Council represents a venue through which those living in Laveen can communicate with one another about their collective identity & distinctive ways of life; Choosing inspiration & collaboration over competition for a stronger community and better quality of life. The Laveen Community Council is a registered 501c(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 1960 to provide organizational control for the Laveen BBQ, then in its 8th year.ALL proceeds from this event go directly back into the community and will create new programs in Laveen, provide scholarships to local high school graduates, allocate funding to Laveen youth development programs, and carry on a long tradition of Annual family-friendly, community centric events that highlight the rich agrarian heritage and diverse cultural history of Laveen, which promotes community awareness and fosters a sense of community and pride in Laveen.
