Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest Please support the Center. Visit www.aclpi.org to make a contribution. The Center maintains offices in Phoenix and Tucson.

The Arizona Center for the Law in the Public Interest is a private, non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to representing the people of Arizona on issues that affect us all, including clean air and water, school finance reform, open government, consumer rights, campaign finance reform, and the protection of our public lands and natural resources. Since 1974, the Center has fought for indiv

iduals and groups who lack the power or money to take on big business and big government. Center staff attorneys litigate and advocate before administrative agencies, legislative bodies and the courts at no charge to our clients. A volunteer Board of Directors approves litigation and assists with strategic planning and fundraising. The Center funds its work through contributions from individuals, law firms, foundations and other organizations. Private donations, large and small, have allowed the Center to be an independent public advocate and watchdog for over 30 years.

The escalating use of force by federal agents is terrorizing affected communities. ACLPI was founded more than 50 years ago on the principles of ensuring government accountability and preserving constitutional rights. BREAKING NEWS: The Center, with co-counsel Adriane Hofmeyr of Tucson, has filed a lawsuit in Pima County challenging the April 2025 vote by the Pima County Planning and Zoning Commission to rezone land being used for the controversial “Project Blue” data center.

The lawsuit alleges that vote was taken in violation of Arizona’s Open Meeting Law and alleges the agenda for the commission’s meeting did not provide adequate notice to the public of the true purpose for rezoning.

Driving the point home - The Center is actively working as Amicus in several cases with important public policy implications for the state.

Serving as a "friend of the court," we are supporting many efforts underway to protect Arizonan's legal rights - including protecting parental rights, upholding the state's public records laws, protecting the rights of the criminally accused, and upholding our First Amendment rights of free speech and assembly.
