A $134 QUADRILLION REPARATIONS LAWSUIT? π°
Reparations activist Anelia Sutton is reportedly pursuing a massive class-action lawsuit seeking up to $134 quadrillion in compensation for descendants of enslaved people in the United States.
According to the campaign, the figure is based on calculations involving generations of unpaid labor, historical damages and compounded interest. The proposal reportedly works out to about $3.3 billion per eligible descendant.
The campaign targets governments and institutions alleged to have benefited from or played a role in the system of slavery.
The figure is so enormous that it has sparked intense debate online about reparations, how historical damages should be calculated, and whether financial compensation can truly account for generations of injustice. And will African states ever receive REPARATIONS?
What do you think?
