🏗️ A big win for Arizona’s carpenters and contractors!

Governor Katie Hobbs officially signed SB 1428 into law, with members of the Carpenters proudly standing by as this important legislation became reality.

A special thank you to Representative Alma Hernandez, who co-sponsored the bill and worked closely with the Governor to help move it across the finish line.

SB 1428 modernizes the workers’ compensation process by allowing employers and insurance carriers to accept electronic proof of workers’ compensation coverage instead of requiring paper certificates. This common-sense change streamlines insurance verification, reduces paperwork, and helps keep construction projects moving efficiently.

👏 Thank you, Governor Hobbs, for standing shoulder to shoulder with Arizona’s carpenters and our contractors. And thank you, Representative Alma Hernandez, for your leadership and commitment to supporting working families and the construction industry.

Together, we’re building a stronger Arizona. 💪🔨

Thank you, Representative Alma Hernandez! 👏

We were honored to welcome State Representative Alma Hernandez (District 20) to speak with the members of Carpenters Local 1912.

Representative Hernandez encouraged our members to make their voices heard by voting in the Primary Election on July 21. She also thanked our union for its continued support and shared that it has been an honor to help pass two important bills benefiting our members over the past two years.

She recognized the Carpenters Union as the only union consistently delivering results through bipartisan legislation—a testament to the strength of our members and the relationships we’ve built.

Thank you, Alma, for standing with working families and fighting for Arizona’s carpenters. We appreciate your leadership and wish you the very best as you continue your campaign.

Good luck in your race for the State Senate—we look forward to celebrating your victory!

Your voice matters. Your vote matters.

Every election is an opportunity to stand up for good jobs, fair wages, strong benefits, and a construction industry built on integrity. The candidates endorsed by the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters have taken the time to meet with our members, understand the issues affecting working families, and demonstrate their commitment to supporting union carpenters.

Together, we can elect leaders who stand with working people and help build a stronger future for our union and our communities.

Vote on July 21, 2026.

Today’s executive order signed by Governor Hobbs is a testimony to her courage to stand with Arizonans who worked hard and deserved to get paid what they’re worth. Employee miss classification is epidemic in the construction industry. There are 30,000 workers here in Arizona annually who are misclassified they are underpaid and their earnings are underreported. The lost revenue means no benefits to families who need them because they are evading taxes and reporting fraudulently that amounts to over 10 million a year in lost revenue. thank you Governor Hobbs for your efforts to restore ethics integrity back to our noble profession you have elevated the trade.

Kevin Robinson has been a consistent advocate for a level playing field for contractors competing on statewide projects. Throughout his career, he has stood alongside labor, recognizing that unpaid taxes and misreported wages directly impact state and local budgets—ultimately affecting critical services, including public safety.

Councilman Robinson continues to stand with carpenters in the fight to eliminate tax fraud in the construction industry, supporting fairness, accountability, and responsible contracting practices across Arizona.

Mayor Romero has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring that contractors in Tucson accurately report wages to insurance providers and uphold wage standards for union carpenters. Major projects such as Copper World, Project Blue Data Center, and the American Battery Factory are setting a positive example by engaging responsible contractors who offer competitive wages, invest in apprenticeship programs, and properly classify construction workers according to their respective crafts.

Thank you, Mayor, for your continued advocacy for responsible contracting practices on high-profile developments, helping to ensure that Tucson’s economic growth is achieved with both integrity and accountability.
