Our first meetup for โ€œThe Buildโ€ BLKMEN Book Study gave us plenty to reflect on. ๐Ÿ“šโœŠ๐Ÿพ

We began with Malcolm in the Desert by Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz, the daughter of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz. Exploring its spiritual foundation, Hajj, and the different pilgrimages we experience throughout life. We discussed how a journey can challenge what we believe, deepen our faith, and change how we see ourselves and others. That gave us room to reflect on our own journeys and what theyโ€™re teaching us as men.

Much appreciation to every brother who showed up, shared, and listened, and to Grassrootz Bookstore & Cafe for making space for the build.

Our history has many voices. HistoFest needs yours.

Weโ€™re calling on people of all ages and abilities to help bring A Cavalcade of Souls to life. Dancers, drummers, artists, sewists, builders, familiesโ€”thereโ€™s a place for you in this story.

The Cavalcade takes place February 27, 2027. Roles are being assigned this fall, with rehearsals and preparation leading up to the event.
