NewFest, the organization that for more than 30 years has presented the New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival has partnered with Desperado to give Arizona residents access to more than 100 films showing at this year's Festival.

ARIZONA RESIDENT YOU GET TO VIRTUALLY STREAM THESE MOVIES FOR FREE! Beginning October 10 at 9am and ends October 22. Click on the link below to enroll.

Desperado LGBTQ+ Film Festival Announcement

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the 17th annual Desperado LGBTQ+ Film Festival.

Due to recent federal executive orders targeting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, our community college district must comply with new legal restrictions. Continuing with the festival this year could risk the loss of all federal funding to the district, including student financial aid and grants that support hundreds of employees and critical student services.

This decision was not made lightly. For over 16 years, Desperado has been a celebration of LGBTQ+ voices, stories, and community. We are incredibly proud of the space we’ve built together with our volunteers, sponsors, filmmakers, and audience.

We thank you for your continued support, advocacy, and belief in the power of inclusive storytelling. Though we pause this year, we remain committed to our mission and hopeful for what lies ahead.
