USAA is partnering with 9/11 Day to participate in the nation’s largest annual day of service to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, alongside the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. This federally recognized initiative will mobilize millions of Americans to engage in acts of service, including a nationwide effort to pack 20 million meals for communities facing hunger.
As a sponsor for this effort, USAA has secured 100 total volunteer spots in Phoenix to engage the local military community to participate. Volunteers participate in a high-energy, hands-on experience, packing, sealing, and boxing thousands of meals side by side. Each volunteer packs approximately 350 meals during a two-hour shift. The 70K meals packaged by USAA members with then be donated to local food banks in Phoenix and Tampa.
Volunteer Shift: Phoenix: Friday, September 11th, 11:00am-1:00pm, State Farm Stadium (1 Cardinals Dr, Glendale, AZ 85305)
Details:
Arrival: Arrive about 30 minutes before your shift for check-in, security, and the opening tribute.
Security: No bags or purses will be allowed. Leave them at home or in your vehicle.
Check-in: Bring your ticket — printed or on a phone — and have it ready to scan.
What to Wear: Comfortable casual clothing. Closed-toe shoes recommended. Food safety Hair nets are provided. Hats and jewelry should not be worn while packing meals, except medical alert jewelry.
During the Shift: After a short tribute and orientation, volunteers pack, seal, and box meals in teams.
Accessibility: Chairs and accommodations are available when needed.
Families & Ages: This is a family-friendly event. A recommended minimum age of 10.USAA is a Sponsor for the 9/11 Day Meal Pack.
