Ozzie is a handsome 3-year-old Golden Retriever weighing about 82 pounds. He’s housebroken, sleeps quietly through the night, enjoys attention, and handles most everyday activity without much fuss. He’s affectionate, confident, and has a wonderfully independent personality.
Ozzie marches to the beat of his own drum. He’s smart and food motivated, but he’s not the kind of Golden who hangs on every word or constantly asks what you’d like him to do next. He’ll do best with a family that enjoys a dog with his own opinions and can provide calm, consistent direction and follow-through.
Because Ozzie is a big, physical dog, a home with teenagers or no children would be best. He enjoys active, energetic play with other dogs and could live with a well-matched dog who appreciates his physical, mouth-oriented style. He may also be perfectly happy as the only dog. A home without cats would be best.
Ozzie’s ideal family has experience with large dogs, is steady on their feet, and understands that his affection doesn’t always translate into an eagerness to follow directions. He needs secure handling on walks and someone willing to give him structure, repetition, and a little pushback when he decides the world should operate according to Ozzie.
