📣 ARTIST OPEN CALL | THIRD SPACE DANCE PROJECT
Applications are now OPEN for our 2027 performance season!

🗓 Deadline: November 5 at 11:59 PM

We invite Arizona-based dance professionals—emerging, mid-career, and established artists—to submit work for consideration. All genres, styles, and approaches to dance and movement research are welcome.

We are looking for high-quality professional work with strong craft and performance, with priority given to artists exploring contemporary ideas and questions: What is current? How can we subvert tradition? How can movement be explored in new ways? How can you expand your artistic voice and deepen your choreographic craft?

Selected artists receive:
• 💰 Artist fee
• 📣 Free marketing + promotion
• 📸 Professional photo + video documentation
• 🎭 Venue rental + insurance
• 🛠 Production + technical crew support

✨ GUIDED FREE-MOVEMENT FOR COMMUNITY ✨

Attune your wild and authentic moving self with this guided free-movement class led by Ellen Sickenberger! If you’re looking to become freer in your physical vessel, deepen your movement practice, or experience the healing power of movement, this class is for you. Non-dancers and dancers alike are welcome; the practice is unique to each individual and is for everyone.

Ellen has years of experience in practicing and teaching improvisational movement methods, inspired by her work with choreographers across the Middle East, Europe and NYC. Her teachings are deeply inspired by Kinetica (Nadine Bommer), Gaga (Ohad Naharin), and other unnamed methods she has learned and built upon throughout her career.

⭐Class will emphasize play, vulnerability and presence by unleashing the quiet, listening mind and unlearning what movement “should” be.

💕 We are SO PROUD of this incredible feedback!

We are a small team, but we are making a BIG difference in the lives of Arizona dancers—and that puts the biggest smile on our faces. 🥹💕 Seeing the impact of this programming and knowing that our work is reaching and supporting our community means everything to us.

A huge thank you to Tempe City Arts for supporting this important programming, to our Advisory Board members—past and present—and to our incredible Circle Members who continue to believe in and support what we do with a monthly donation.

Thank you to the dancers who register and show up. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to offer this resource.

We couldn’t do this without you. 💕

Yes, these are REAL testimonials from Arizona dancers! 💕 We’ve removed names to protect everyone’s privacy, but we deeply appreciate every testimonial and piece of feedback that has been shared with us. Your words mean so much and remind us why this work matters! 🥹💕

💪 Stay a student. Stay curious. Stay evolving.

Becoming a professional dancer—or stepping into the role of educator—doesn’t mean you’ve finished learning.

Artists who continue to train, experiment and challenge their physical practices create more possibilities for themselves as performers, choreographers, and teachers.

If you’re the kind of dancer who wants to keep discovering what’s possible, we want you in the room.

🚨 Countertechnique® is coming to Arizona September 18–20! Join us for three days of big, fluid, juicy movement with FACT/SF Artistic Director and longtime Countertechnique teacher Charles Slender-White alongside Senior Teacher Rosanna Tavarez.
