Arizona Matsuri An annual Japanese cultural festival in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. Join us February 21-22, 2026.

The Arizona Matsuri is a two-day festival featuring the culture of Japan. The Arizona Matsuri is a non-profit organization, whose Steering Committee members are drawn from the Arizona Buddhist Temple, the Phoenix Himeji Sister City Committee, the Japanese American Citizens League, the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, the Japanese Business Association of Arizona, the Japanese Culture Club of

Arizona and interested individuals. The Matsuri is the means for the Arizona Matsuri to fulfill its mission of introducing the arts and culture of Japan to Arizona. Mission: The Arizona Matsuri is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based on the dedication of volunteers who wish to introduce and educate all who are reached in the essence of traditional and modern Japanese culture. Goal: Our mission is carried out with the goal of promoting mutual understanding and friendships with Japan, Japanese-Americans, and the local community. Vision: The Arizona Matsuri Steering Committee strives to incorporate understandings and friendships within the community while engaging in a fun and family-friendly showcase enlightening our community with the most authentic and relevant aspects of Japan.

🍶HAPPENING TONIGHT🍶

A unique evening celebrating culture, cuisine, and the first Phoenix Sister Cities collaboration between Himeji and Suwon—you won’t want to miss it!

Join Phoenix Sister Cities at Sake and Soju, a joint event with our Himeji and Suwon committees! Taste the differences in sake and soju over the background of the Japanese Friendship Garden, featuring performances by the Pam Morita Asian Jazz Quartet and the Arirang Institute for Classical Korean Performing Arts.

Sake and Soju will be NEXT WEEK on April 11th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Japanese Friendship Garden.

🎌✨ Day 2 of Arizona Matsuri has come to a close, and what an unforgettable weekend it has been! ✨🎌

This year was especially meaningful as we proudly celebrated the 50th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Himeji and Phoenix. 🇯🇵🤝🇺🇸 Honoring five decades of friendship and cultural exchange made this festival even more special.

We are extremely grateful to have had the honor and pleasure of hosting ( ) Phoenix Sister Cities Himeji, Japan Committee’s first artist exchange featuring Tsugaru Shamisen player Takuya Nakamura ( .nakamura0109 )and Traditional Buyo Performer Kazuki Miyasaka (.dai) 🇯🇵. Their performance was a powerful celebration of tradition, artistry, and international connection.

We are also deeply thankful for our wonderful vendors, performers, and exhibitors who brought the festival to life throughout the weekend. A huge thank you to all of our generous sponsors whose support allows us to present this celebration year after year.

Continuing the legacy of Master Shojiro Koyama, Arizona JKA preserves and teaches traditional Shotokan Karate with roots in Phoenix dating back to 1961.

Fushicho Daiko Dojo 🥁🔥
Providing dynamic, authentic taiko at Arizona Matsuri since 1993 and sharing their love of Japanese culture with the community.

Odaiko Sonora🥁🎼
Tucson’s taiko ensemble serving Southern Arizona since 2002, dedicated to expanding appreciation of Japanese drumming through performances and education.

We’re looking for 10–12 participants ages 8–12 to take part in this fun, fast-paced challenge. Stop by the Cultural Arts Stage from 11:10–11:35 AM on both Saturday and Sunday to watch the action or join in.
