✨ May is Mental Health Awareness Month ✨

Did you know that nearly 1 in 4 adults aged 18 and older in Arizona experienced any mental health illness in the prior year? Many go untreated due to stigma, lack of resources, or support.

At Help Young Adults Arizona, our mission is to help young adults thrive in all areas of their lives by providing services, support, mentorship, and access to resources that unlock their true potential.

We kicked off Mental Health Awareness Month early this past Sunday with a nonalcoholic Sip N Paint at Chicken N Pickle, led by the wonderfully talented Diamin Nicole of Picture Pearlfect . The event celebrated art as a therapeutic outlet to manage stress in a fun and supportive environment. We had an amazing time!

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Chicken N Pickle - Glendale for your beautiful space, warm atmosphere, and generous accommodations. Your hospitality made this event not just possible—but truly special. We are so grateful for your support and partnership in creating safe, uplifting environments for our community.

An additional special thanks to:
• Diamin Nicole – your talent and spirit are unmatched. We are so grateful for your partnership and can’t wait to create more with you!
• Walmart – thank you for helping us fill our thank-you bags with “Mental Health Matters: Self-Care Isn’t Selfish” shirts, journals, sound spas, inspirational reads & more.
• Juan Te, Executive Director at Dsquared Homes for the Homeless, and
• Principal Gooding & Mr. Sanders at Desiderata High School – your sponsorship and belief in our mission means the world. Your dedication to our community drives real change.

We are building a stronger, healthier future—one young adult at a time.

Check out our recap video from Sunday!

Together, we are the change.

✨ Celebrating Black History Month ✨

A Different World was more than just a TV show – it was a cultural phenomenon that inspired a generation of young adults, particularly within the Black community. With characters like Dwayne, Whitley, and Freddie, the show emphasized the importance of higher education, personal growth, and embracing our diverse backgrounds. It taught us that college is more than a place to learn – it’s where we discover our identities, build lasting friendships, and challenge ourselves to become the best versions of who we can be.

As we celebrate this month of reflection and pride, let’s remember the impact of positive representation in media and the power of education.

If you’re thinking about your own journey towards higher education or need guidance in exploring career opportunities, don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help you navigate your path to success. Let’s make your dreams a reality!

We’re beyond grateful for our continued partnership with Desiderata High School (formerly Desiderata Alternative Program). 🏫

Last year, we had the honor of hosting a transformative 9-week Career and Job Readiness workshop, where we helped students uncover their hard and soft skills, build impressive resumes, and even gifted them interview outfits to help them look and feel their best! 🤩

📈This year, we’re excited to take things to the next level and provide even more resources to help these students succeed after high school.

Stay tuned – big things are coming! 💥

💚 Connect with Nature for Your Mental Health 💚

In the hustle of daily life, it’s easy to overlook how much our minds and bodies crave moments of peace and grounding. Taking time to connect with nature — whether through a quiet walk in the park, a hike in the woods, or simply sitting under a tree — can work wonders for your mental health. Nature offers a serene escape from stress and allows you to reconnect with the present moment.

Spending time outdoors can reduce anxiety, improve mood, and boost your overall sense of well-being. It’s a simple, effective way to clear your mind and recharge.

So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, step outside and take a few moments to breathe in the fresh air. Nature has a way of helping us reset, even if just for a few minutes.

💚 Prioritize your mental health — you deserve it.

Let’s break the stigma and create a community where well-being is a top priority!

Today, as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we reflect on the profound impact Dr. King made as a young adult. At just 26 years old, he stepped into leadership during the Montgomery Bus Boycott, sparking a movement that would forever change the course of history. His courage, vision, and dedication to justice remind us that age is not a barrier to creating meaningful change.

Just as Dr. King inspired millions in his youth, today’s young adults have the power to shape the future. Whether through activism, creativity, or community leadership, we can all make a difference. The challenges we face today are great, but so is our potential to inspire a better tomorrow.

Let’s honor Dr. King’s legacy by continuing the fight for equality, justice, and love in our communities. ✊🏽
