At Hushabye, we focus on the Eat, Sleep, and Console, which is a gentle approach that supports babies exposed to substances during pregnancy by focusing on what matters most: eating well, sleeping comfortably, and being comforted when upset.

Parents and caregivers play a key role in the baby's care. Holding, feeding, and staying close help babies feel safe and calm.

Through our one-to-one care model, every baby receives continuous care from a dedicated caregiver, nurse, volunteer, or AmeriCorps member who provides comfort and soothing whenever needed, helping babies feel safe and supported to help them thrive.

Tiny tummies, sleepy newborns, and the first 24 hours matter.

Chelsey shares how to stimulate milk production in the first 24 hours after a baby is born, whether that’s through latching, hand expression, or pumping. Even if your baby is sleepy, gentle stimulation every 2–3 hours will help signal your body to start making milk.

Why Hushabye? 💚 It’s one of the questions we hear most from families.

Babies exposed to opioids before birth can seem okay at first, but withdrawal symptoms may show up days later. That’s why many babies need to be monitoring in a medical setting like Hushabye through at least day five of age before going home.

At Hushabye, babies receive that monitoring in a calm, family-centered space designed to care for both baby and family. We focus on supportive care and comfort with medication only when needed.

Families choose Hushabye because they can be part of their baby’s care. You can spend the day, stay part of the day, or even stay overnight.

At Hushabye babies go home much sooner on average 7.7 days compared to 22 days in a traditional NICU setting and families who connect with us during pregnancy have more opportunities to plan, prepare, and go home safely together.

No matter where you are on your journey, whether sober, struggling, scared, or unsure, you'll be met with support, not judgment.

We were honored to welcome Knotsfor Nicu to Hushabye Nursery today, a student-founded and student-led nonprofit, supporting babies and families with comfort, care, and community.

We had a pleasure of providing a tour of our facility and sharing more about our mission to support families impacted by substance use disorder.

Breastfeeding Basics 🍼

Wondering if your baby is getting enough milk while breastfeeding?

Chelsey, RN and lactation consultant at Hushabye Nursery, shares three signs to watch for:
- A content baby after feeding
- Plenty of wet and dirty diapers: at least 6 wet diapers a day and at least 1 stool each day.
- Steady weight gain as your baby grows.
