Join us for craft night next Wednesday, April 15th at Marys River Grange from 5:30-8:30 PM, come and go as you please.
As always, bring whatever craft project you're working on. We'll also be making entries for the Oregon State Grange Convention (which includes knitting, crochet, creative writing, and other contests). Entries are open to non-members and are eligible for prizes, so everyone is welcome to participate. For more information: orgrange.org/res/info/awards/OSG_Awards.pdf
This will be a special sewing machine night, an OSU student has generously offered to take a look at your machine, troubleshoot issues, and offer advice on a sliding scale donation basis. Whether your machine needs a tune-up or you just have questions, this is a great opportunity!
If you have any of the following to share or swap, please bring them along:
• Sewing machines (for the tune-up/advice session)
• Fabric, thread, or elastic to exchange
• Advice for newer sewists
• sewing machine related questions
Hope to see you there! Feel free to bring dinner and/or snacks for yourself or to share.

This month I have a special challenge and request. I want everyone who can to carve a spoon for the Philomath Library staff, who lost to Dutch Elm Disease the big old tree that shaded their parking lot. The wood is lovely to carve, so I’m hoping you’ll help turn some of it into spoons!
As usual, we’ll be at the Mary’s River grange, from 5:30-8:30 pm...
If you’re coming, please let me know. And if you haven't already, please read, print, and sign the liability waiver below so we all know that you accept the inherent risks of working with sharp tools! (you can also send me, [email protected], an email acknowledgement.)
We gather monthly to share techniques & resources, show off tools & projects, swap spoons, have some good conversations, and get to know new (and old!) folks. You don’t have to be an expert, but it helps to have some experience and confidence handling sharp tools. This is not a structured class, but friendly carvers are usually willing to share tips and tricks. Experienced folks may review specific skills on request.
We are aligned with Tarweed Folk School in nourishing a culture of open exchange and learning.
Please bring wood if you have it! (Fresh/green!) Chopping block(s) too, if you have one/some. If you don't have tools, let me know. I have some loaners. Minimum age 16, tho parents with competent, focused younger kids are welcome to try a test run.

WAIVER of LIABILITY
As a condition of participating in Spoon Jam, I agree to release Mary’s River Grange board members, officers, and members from all liability relating to injuries that may occur during the Spoon Jam. By signing this agreement, I agree to hold Mary’s River Grange and its members entirely free from any liability, including financial responsibility for injuries incurred, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence.
I also acknowledge the risks involved in using spoon carving tools (knives, saws, etc.). These include but are not limited to cuts, sprains, strains, contusions, and abrasions. I swear or affirm that I am participating voluntarily, and that all risks have been made clear to me. Additionally, I do not have any conditions that will increase my likelihood of experiencing injuries while engaging in this activity.
By signing below I forfeit all right to bring a suit against Mary’s River Grange and any of its members for any reason. I will also make every effort to obey common sense safety precautions and any verbal warnings I may receive from others. I will ask for clarification when needed.
I fully understand and agree to the above terms.
