UPDATE: Adopted!!
While we have your attention on this snowy day, let's talk about Queenie. As you can see, Queenie has become very depressed here. We have had her for two months and she only had one person come to look at her, since then she has never had anyone ask about her. We thought this cute Puggle girl would find a home fast, but it is taking longer than expected. π Please read more about Queenie below! Even if you cannot adopt, please share!
Queenie is a 7yr old Puggle who was surrendered to us because her owner could not afford to have her properly vetted. She was often urinating blood and was not in good shape. We found that Queenie's bladder was filled with grit and crystals, making her bladder very irritated and making Queenie have to urinate frequently. She is on a special diet that combats this issue, but because she was untreated for so long it will take time for Queenie to be 100%. This means Queenie has to urinate frequently, so she needs to go out more often than a normal dog. She also will need to be on a special diet for the rest of her life, but it's not terribly expensive for a smaller dog. Right now, Queenie is still far from a "small dog." She is extremely overweight but has lost a bit of it. She arrived at about 50lbs. Her new owner must make sure she continues to lose weight. Beyond these two health issues, Queenie is a very sweet and loving girl who is getting very depressed being in the shelter. She is crate trained, knows some basic commands, and loves going for long walks which is good exercise for her. Queenie is good with other dogs but needs a home without cats. She never lived with children, but older kids would likely be fine. Her only downfall is that Queenie is obsessed with food, and it's clear that she was allowed to beg for food because boy does she like to beg! This is easily fixed with proper training though.
Queenie has a lot of personality and love to bring to a family that will keep her healthy and happy for the rest of her life! If you are interested in adopting this sweet lonely girl, stop in or call 908-859-3060.
