I am a little frustrated. Maybe I'm a little overwhelmed after a long two weeks, but a few moments lately at the pantry have left me a little upset. While most of the time, the pantry restores my faith in humanity, sometimes I realize others must be confused about appropriateness.

I understand I run a free pantry. I work full time and am a busy mom. I am unable to apply rules to it and have no intention to. That's the beauty of it. It should be neighbors helping neighbors. It shouldn't need rules.

But it should be common sense to only take what you need. So when I get home from work and see the whole thing is wiped out, I also find myself frustrated.
I recognize that people may misunderstand the concept of free. They think everything is free. Well it is, but I want to remind that Kindness is also free.
I am not a grocery store. I am run fully off of donations. Absolutely generous donations.
Many of the wonderful people who use the pantry donate back to the pantry too.

Please do not take bags upon bags from my pantry. Please only take what you need. And please donate back. Please leave enough for your neighbors. Everyone is struggling right now. Your needs are not above the needs of others.

If you have specific needs or need more assistance, I am happy to help if you reach out.

*** And for full transparency, I have a camera on it. I can see who's dumping entire containers into bags and not leaving a single donation. ***

Who needs help this Christmas?

I received many generous donations and we have the ability to do a Christmas Dinner box.
Please reach out if you need one.
Boxes can include:
Stuffing (Turkey or Chicken)
Instant Potatoes or Scalloped Potatoes
Gravy or gravy mix (Turkey or Chicken)
Canned Green beans, Corn, and/or Peas
Pumpkin with or without canned milk
Cream of mushroom, celery, or chicken soup
Boxed Mac and Cheese
Dessert of some kind or canned fruit

Message me if you need a box. Let me know what ingredients you want and I can prepare boxes. Pickup will be at our house in Philipsburg.

Supplies will be limited. First come first serve until supply runs out. Please only request what you can use.

We are celebrating our second birthday this week. And it has been such a blessing to be able to have this pantry.
We grew from a small little, grey box that was quickly turned into a "pink fridge" on the bench. Last year we landscaped and gave the pantry a base.
This year we added the farm stand which has been a wonderful additional amount of space this fall with all the SNAP uncertainty.

We have fed dozens of families over a 1000 pounds of food this year alone. This has been the busiest year by far. I hope it's because people are more aware we are here. But I fear it's because more are struggling. We will continue to help our community as much as we can within the next year and hope to grow more!

This year we did our Thanksgiving Blessing Bag Program and I'm happy to announce that 20 Thanksgiving Blessing Bags have found a home for Thanksgiving.

Please think of us if you ever have food that needs donated or if you ever need anything.

I will start reaching out tomorrow to families who will receive the blessing bags to set up pick up times. I have a lot of work ahead in assembling the bags. Please have some patience as it's just the three of us who are getting this done!

My husband and I have put together a little something for Thanksgiving this year. We know some are majorly struggling and trying to offset some pain.

To claim a bag, please fill out the Google Sheets doc. All the info is listed in the sign-ups. There's also a small gift to be included in each bag, generously donated by our friends and family members.

Feel free to share with friends and family. Also nominations of a local family in need are welcome (please message me directly). Pickup will be at our home in Philipsburg Borough and we prefer to keep recipients within the Moshannon Valley region.
