Saunders House Foundation works on behalf of older adults with limited financial resources.

Through our grantmaking, collaborations, and educational initiatives, we support and grow community-based programs and service providers in our area with funding.

Senior Community Services promotes positive aging with a wide range of activities and services across four senior centers in Delaware County. Older adults can find opportunities for social connection close to home, get help navigating complex insurance structures through PA Medi, or access home-delivered meals.

Saunders House Foundation is proud to have partnered with SCS since 2024 to support our aging neighbors in Delco.

Just as the name suggests, Connectedly keeps older adults engaged and connected to one another through counseling sessions, local outings, and conversation groups, allowing seniors to bond over shared interests and concerns. Their GrandFamily programs provide crucial resources and supports for grandparent-led households.

Connectedly relieves social isolation for our aging neighbors by giving them an outlet to learn new things, celebrate life’s successes, and seek help for its challenges. We’re delighted to work on behalf of older adults alongside Connectedly.

For this blog, we took a deeper look at the work of the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center, a vibrant neighborhood hub promoting active lifestyles and lifelong learning. In addition to providing referral services that address seniors’ basic needs, the Center offers a multitude of peer-led classes, giving older adults plenty of spaces to connect over their shared interests.

Saunders House Foundation grantee ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth provides free services that enable older adults to age in place — from housing assistance and healthcare navigation to transportation and basic needs — ElderNet fills gaps wherever they exist. The ElderNet food pantry in Bryn Mawr reaches more than 240 households with 200,000 pounds of food.

Saunders House Foundation has supported ElderNet since our first year of grantmaking in 2024, and we’re proud to uplift the work of this amazing organization.

Providing free legal support for housing disputes, life planning, elder abuse, and a wide range of complex issues, SeniorLAW Center passionately defends the rights of older adults. The SeniorLAW HelpLine offers a direct line for advice, information and referrals for our aging neighbors who can’t access support in person.

As one of a handful of organizations across the nation solely focused on the legal needs of older adults, SeniorLAW Center amplifies the voices of vulnerable residents statewide, with services in all 67 counties and a staff of more than 60 people. Saunders House Foundation is proud to advocate for older adults alongside SLC.

The Saunders House Foundation 2026 General Operating Support Fall Grant Cycle is now open! We’re accepting applications from nonprofits serving older adults in West Philadelphia, parts of lower Montgomery County, and parts of eastern Delaware County.

A leader in the creative aging space, ARTZ Philadelphia helps dementia patients and their caregivers access, enjoy, and participate in the arts by activating memories and making connections to lived experiences. Programming takes place virtually or in-person at local museums, performance venues, and other cultural spaces.

Saunders House Foundation proudly supports the arts alongside the aging population through ARTZ Philadelphia’s work.

RT Philadelphia (RTP) helps older adults age in place with dignity through their home repair programs, which make crucial improvements and upgrades for seniors, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable homeowners. RTP’s army of volunteers fix electrical and plumbing issues, structural damage, and make adaptive modifications, allowing our aging neighbors to safely inhabit the dwellings they’ve worked so hard to maintain.

Saunders House Foundation is proud to partner with Rebuilding Together Philadelphia to enable more older adults to remain independent in the settings of their choice.

The West Philadelphia Senior Community Center is a vibrant hub for older adults, offering cultural enrichment, arts activities, movement, digital literacy instruction, and more to some 1500 seniors. The Center provides both sit-down and grab-and-go meals, and serves as an important third place for our aging neighbors to socialize and connect with one another.

Many of the Center’s visitors are also volunteers, lending their lived and professional experiences to a robust slate of classes, including reading clubs, retirement planning, quilting, and healthy living.

Saunders House Foundation is honored to partner with WPSCC to help older adults in West Philly achieve their greatest potential.
