At our house we love our and November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! It also coincides with National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Nov 3-9. We are so grateful to partners such as BARCS Animal Shelter and others we work with, to give care to the animals in the Baltimore community and elsewhere.

Remember, if you’re thinking of adopting, don’t forget to check out the older dogs and cats who often get overlooked.

Midnight “Don’t Judge Me” Ruiz—Forthcoming Graphic Novel Takes Aim at the Stigma of Dogs Labeled “Pit Bulls” in Animal Shelters Nationwide

Well, this book. Or to be more precise, this soon-to-be-released graphic novel.

Debuting in January 2025 and based on a true story, Midnight “Don’t Judge Me” Ruiz follows the harrowing journey of an abandoned pit bull-type dog, who wound up at Philadelphia’s bursting open-intake animal shelter in 2019. Through Rocky-like grit, hard work, and a lot of help from his friends, Midnight goes the distance with his demons, survives, and learns to love again.

Midnight is brilliantly illustrated by Philly-based potter, Koszalka. Each of the more than 400 illustrations began as a ceramic tile, lovingly etched, painted, and fired in the kiln. Each tile was then photographed and incorporated into the design. With a foreword by celebrity photographer and animal advocate Ruiz, this book follows two Phillybreds, Midnight and Mister, as they fight to survive the shelter system.

Through humor, and more than one or two dreams of tomato pie, the two main canine characters hope to change hearts and minds about dogs labeled “pit bull” who factor largely on the adoption floors of shelters nationwide—and also in nationwide euthanasia statistics.

PLEASE HELP US GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Twice a year we have a fund raising charity auction at our Cherry Hill, NJ location where 100% of the proceeds go to the Save A Yorkie Rescue organization.

Once again this year, we will be doing a fund raising charity auction at our Oaks,PA location where 100% of the proceeds will go to Mac's Fund, which is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the well being of community and shelter cats in and around the Philadelphia area.

MAC’S FUND was founded by Clare Morrison who radio fans may know is the wife of WMMR’s Steve Morrison of the Preston & Steve morning show. CLARE named the fund after her beloved Orange tabby MAC and has gone on to raise funds and help cats in his honor. STEVE MORRISON will be joining us for this event!

Please join us at the stage area in Hall D on Saturday, November 9th at 4PM for the auction. Please feel free to bid on the prizes and also feel free to donate any prizes if you wish.

Donated items include an autographed ALICE COOPER POP figure and his banner from last year's show! We also accept any items you'd like to donate to help raise funds for the cats and kittens in need!
