💙 Our viral sugar kitty is home from Urgent Care 💙

Tyson had his Urgent Care visit at Washington Ave Animal Hospital, where his veterinary team wasn’t quite sure what was causing his abdominal tenderness, but thankfully it seemed to be improving before he went home.

We sent out bloodwork and a urinalysis and are waiting on those results. Hopefully they’ll give us a little more insight into what’s going on with our sweet boy.

In the meantime, Tyson managed to completely charm the entire veterinary team. He was officially awarded the title of Smuggler the Snuggler. 😂

We also decided to try a continuous glucose monitor while he was there to make managing his diabetes a little easier. Unfortunately, the device malfunctioned, so we’re back to manual blood glucose readings for now. Once we’ve recovered from this vet bill, we may consider trying another one.

We’re still working toward our $667 medical fund goal, and honestly, our viral sugar kitty could use a little more help getting the word out. This fundraiser hasn’t gotten nearly as many shares as Tyson’s original story, so if you can’t donate, please share this post! Even one share could put Tyson in front of someone who can help.

🚨Tyson needs his village again 🚨

A huge thank you to for fitting in Tyson last minute today!

Back in July, we helped save Tyson from euthanasia at ACCT Philly after his family was unable to continue caring for his diabetes. Since then, this sweet sugar kitty has settled into rescue life and has been doing wonderfully with his foster family.

His original story reached a LOT of people all over the country. That post received 667 likes, so we thought we’d put those 667 likes to work!

Tyson needed an unexpected Urgent Care visit today. His tummy is quite tender, and his blood sugar has been through the roof the past few days!

So we’re setting a $667 goal for Tyson’s Medical Fund. If every person who liked his original post chipped in just $1, we’re hoping that might be enough to cover this entire Urgent Care visit.

NINE kitties found their forever homes over the past week!

Rocket, Parker, Bobo, Zozo, Van, Bobby, Orchid, Jasmine, and Daisy have all officially graduated from foster care, including THREE bonded pairs! 🥰

And this is officially a new record for Whiskered Away: the most cats we’ve ever had adopted in a single week! 🎉

We don’t usually have this many adoptions finalize so close together, it just happened to work out that way! We’re hoping this is a sign that adoptions are starting to pick up and that even more of our kitties will find their forever homes in the coming weeks!

When our foster homes open up, we can say YES to cats who might otherwise spend the upcoming months living on the streets. With winter weather just around the corner, every available foster spot can make a huge difference!

A little kitten cuteness to break our radio silence! As you can imagine rescue life has been VERY rescue life!

Extra big thank you to our Medical Director & Forgotten Cats Trainer for squeezing these five girls in for surgery last minute! Many clinics have been booked out for weeks for female pet spay appointments, so we’re especially grateful that these girls were able to get their spays taken care of.

Hopefully things will start slowing down for everyone soon, including the mating.

Now that these ladies are fixed, vaccinated, and ready for their next adventure, we’re hoping applications start pouring in over the next couple of weeks and that all five get to find their forever homes just in time for snuggle season! 🐾

Ty is a Triumph!!

Ty is with Whiskered Away (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and is proof that being a little extra snuggly-special just means having a little extra love to give.

This incredibly sweet, affectionate boy is happiest when he’s with his people. He loves attention, happily leans into pets, and has an impressive purr motor that seems to switch on the moment he sees you and the cutest kitten mews.

Ty is diabetic, but don’t let that intimidate you! He’s an absolute rockstar for his care. He purrs right through his home blood glucose checks, doesn’t even notice his insulin injections, loves OTC low-carb foods and takes his daily routine completely in stride. His diabetes is on the road to regulation and we will be with you every step of the way.

Beyond that, Ty is simply a wonderful companion. He’s gentle, easygoing, and the kind of cat who just wants to be included in whatever you’re doing. Whether he’s lounging nearby, asking for affection, or keeping you company after a long day, Ty has a calming presence that’s impossible not to love.

Ty is neutered, vaccinated, combo tested double negative, microchipped, and ready to find a family that sees him for what he truly is: an amazing cat who happens to have diabetes, not a diabetic cat who happens to be amazing.

If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with a heart as big as his purr, Ty can’t wait to meet you.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to visit us at the Clark Park Farmers’ Market today! 🐾

We had such a lovely time meeting new people, seeing familiar faces, talking cats, and sharing what Whiskered Away is all about.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, made a donation, asked about fostering or adopting, or just took a few minutes to chat with us. Every bit of support means so much to our tiny, 100% volunteer-run rescue & helps us continue caring for our many medical cases.

We’re so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community and to have so many people cheering on the cats in our care.

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who helped make today happen. We couldn’t do this without our volunteers and supporters!

🍅 TOMATO PIE TOM IS ADOPTION READY! 🍅

Yesterday, Tom got to attend a TOMATO PARTY as the guest of honor, where he met 30+ people, helped us raise donations, and may have even recruited some potential fosters! 🍅🐈

Of all the cats to be invited to a gathering, we think they picked the right one. And at a tomato themed party?! It couldn’t have been more perfect. 😂
And now for the best news: Tomato Pie Tom is FULLY HEALED from his entropion surgery and officially ready for his forever home! 🧡

Tom is one of the most outgoing cats we’ve ever met. His personality is honestly more like a dog than a cat. He loves people, wants to be involved in everything, and has absolutely no problem making himself the center of attention.

🍅 Our biggest wish is to have Tom adopted by September 19th so he doesn’t have to be shuffled around again.
He’s been through enough transitions. Now he deserves a forever home where he can settle in and be his goofy, affectionate self for good.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support Cat Fest, all of the amazing rescues, and the local businesses who joined us! We had such a wonderful time and already can’t wait for the next one! 🎉

We also made SO many cute buttons! Our volunteers really wished they had gotten more photos showing off all the creations, so if you went home with a goodie or a button from our booth, please send us a photo, drop it in the comments, or tag us in your own post or story! We can’t wait to see them!

And thanks to everyone who stopped by, we raised a bunch of money for some of our medical kitties, too! Every little bit makes a difference for the cats who need us most.

And an extra-special thank you to our five amazing volunteers who came out and helped make the day such a success. We seriously couldn’t have done it without you! 🐾
