The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services of Eastern PA and Delaware

It's been a very busy few weeks for our staff and volunteers assisting with FIFA, July 4th (250th), and fire response operations, working up to 10 hours plus a day and providing over 2,000 meals to our first responders. Our team received equipment from different areas, including Wayne County PA, The Salvation Army Disaster Services, New Jersey Division, Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services of Western Pennsylvania, and our Territory Headquarters located in West Nyack, New York. We also had help with extra personnel across our territory from NEOSA, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Williamsport PA, The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia, The Salvation Army Greater New York Division, and The Salvation Army Disaster Services, Massachusetts Division.

We always look forward to helping out the Philadelphia FOP Lodge #5 with providing meals, drinks, snacks, and other cooling supplies to support the needs of our Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Fire Department, FIFA World Cup Staff, and Allied Universal Staff.

Over the past week, our staff and volunteers have partnered with the Philadelphia FOP Lodge #5 to provide meals, refreshments, and beverages to the Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Fire Department, Allied Universal, and FIFA World Cup staff members in support of their ongoing operations for the FIFA 2026 event at Lemon Hill.

Today, our team was deployed to Collingdale Borough, Delaware County, to offer rest and rehabilitation services while fire crews responded to a 2nd alarm fire. Our team remained on site for slightly over three hours, providing refreshments, cold towels, and meals.

The Philadelphia Fire Department is sad to announce the off-duty death of Firefighter Gary L. Walton. He joined the PFD in 1994 and was most recently with Battalion 1 on the B platoon. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and colleagues during this difficult time. Please join us in keeping them in your thoughts.

Monday of this week Staff from Eastern and Western PA joined to talk to ~200 Emergency Managers from all over the Commonwealth for the Annual PEMA Symposium and share what The Salvation Army does during a Disaster. 64 of the 67 counties were represented. Yesterday evening our staff and volunteers responded to an All Hands Plus Special Calls Fire in the Frankford section of the city.
