Yesterday, Dee, CJ, and Angel loaded up the wagons with ice-cold waters and snacks thanks to our friends at ShopRite on Knorr Street! We also had 100 turkey and cheese sandwiches for those who were hungry, thanks to Caring For Friends.
We saw so many people we personally know throughout the day. Everyone always sees the bad in Kensington, but what many don't see is the incredible amount of love, compassion, and community that exists there too.
It was a hot one, and the cold water went fast. We started on Clearfield, and by the time we made it to the Avenue, we had already gone through about half of it. As always, we made sure to check on everyone who was down, making sure they were okay and seeing if anyone needed help beyond just supplies.
We can never thank our dedicated and passionate volunteers enough for everything they do. None of this would be possible without them or the supporters who continue to stand behind our mission.
We'll be back out there Saturday serving meals, checking on our friends, and doing everything we can to connect people with the help they need.

Today David Carr, Cj Bankz, Angel UstaBea Savage, and Moises Martinez got up the way a little earlier than usual. Before outreach even started, they spent time walking around, checking on people, and having conversations with those who needed someone to listen.
Afterward, we headed back to The Last Stop to meet up with Christina Crain, Heidi Grundetjern, Ethan, Riley and a few new volunteers. Huge shoutout to OG pizza for helping us feed close to 100 people every single week! The pizza is always amazing. If you haven't tried them yet, get over to Frankford & Cumberland ASAP.
Another huge thank you goes out to ShopRite of Knorr Street for making sure we always have snacks and beverages for the people we serve. Your support helps make all of this possible.
We also ran into Susan SheehanFasulo and one of her Angels from Angels in Motion - Philadelphia. They stopped by and blessed us with a bunch of blessing bags, wipes, and other much-needed supplies for the people we serve. We are incredibly grateful for organizations like Angels In Motion that continue to show up and support the community. Thank you for everything you do!
After feeding, we made our way toward Huntington, seeing many familiar faces and having some deep conversations along the way. These moments remind us why we do what we do.
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers in recovery, all the fathers who are active in their children's lives, and all the fathers who are working to get themselves together so they can be. Never lose hope—your story isn't over yet.

We'd like to help spread the word about a new women-only recovery residence serving our community.

🏡 Safe Haven Recovery House
A yoga-based recovery home for women focused on providing a safe, supportive, and upscale recovery environment.

✅ Women only
✅ Immediate move-in available
✅ Must be clean from drugs and alcohol
✅ Same-day placement may be possible
✅ Currently has openings available

The home is managed by Jessie Fast, one of the owners, who currently resides in the house and is actively involved in supporting residents.

While they do not currently accept insurance, they are in the process of working with BC-ROC to offer funding options in the future.

Today Dee, CJ, Moe, and Angel started at Ruth & Clearfield with 100 turkey and cheese sandwiches, tons of Tastykakes, and wagons packed full of ice-cold green teas, waters, and Pepsi. With the heat today, those cold drinks disappeared fast!

Once again, we ran into our guy J. He got himself together and ended up spending the next hour with us helping out and checking on people.

We met up with Ashley and Michael at Somerset, where Ashley brought a huge donation from a collection drive she recently organized. Thanks to her hard work, our friends heading into treatment and recovery houses will now have much-needed underwear and other essentials. We loaded the wagons back up with snacks, body wipes, socks, shirts, and underwear from the drive.

Ashley, we can't thank you enough. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of our organization and mission!

We saw a ton of familiar faces today, and as always, it was all love. Dee even managed to track down a couple of bracelets he had promised people and finally got them into the right hands.

We made our way toward Huntington, but the wagons were empty before we even made it to Tusculum. That's how great the need continues to be out there.

Rest in peace, Julian. You were taken far too soon. Our deepest condolences go out to your family and friends during this difficult time.

Yesterday Dee, CJ, Moe and Angel loaded up the wagons with water, snacks, and socks and hit the Ave to check on our friends. We ran into our brother J almost immediately, and he decided to join us for the outreach. The supplies went fast, but we headed back to the car, loaded the wagons back up to the top, and kept moving.
Instead of staying on the usual route, we made our way down to Huntington because we know a lot of people stick to the other side of the Ave and can sometimes get overlooked. Along the way, we had a lot of great conversations, checked on familiar faces, and made sure people had what they needed.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing our friend Joe before he heads out for treatment. We wish him nothing but success on this next chapter of his journey. It takes courage to make that decision, and we're rooting for him every step of the way.

Big shoutout to our whole team and all the new volunteers who came out for the first time today. Christina Crain held down the table with Moises Martinez, Angel, Heidi Grundetjern, Gary, and Ethan while Cj Bankz , Justin, David Carr, Reek, and Megan Kane floated around the blocks checking on people and pointing them toward a meal.
Huge thank you to OG pizza as always for making sure our people are fed every week. Big shoutout to ShopRite of Knorr Street and Zallie Family Markets too — today our order accidentally didn’t get shopped, but their team handled it professionally, moved fast, and still made it happen on time for us.
Dee and Reek also stopped over to see Josh from Empowering Cuts while he was on Somerset, and as always, it was all love. Josh is someone we run into multiple times a month actually out there in person, and that alone speaks volumes.
On the way back, they were pointed toward someone overdosing. Dee tried his best to bring him back without Narcan, and just when it seemed like there was no other option, Reek got him alert by carefully pouring water on his head while making sure it didn’t get near his nose or mouth. He jumped up upset, but we believe he understood it was a better alternative than needing Narcan.
After packing up, Dee, CJ, Chrissy, Moe, Angel, Heidi, Megan, and her little man walked the Ave giving out cold waters and pretzels. That cold water was badly needed because the heat was vicious today — again, thank you ShopRite on Knorr Street.
We saw a lot of friends today and served well over 100 people. We also saw Angels in Motion - Philadelphia pull up on Somerset, and thanks to those amazing ladies, we were able to give out fresh socks today too.

Yesterday Dee, CJ, Moe, and Angel hit the avenue and backstreets, providing meals, cold drinks, and much-needed supplies to people battling the heat. We got to see a lot of familiar faces, have some meaningful conversations, and hand out our number to people looking for help. Along the way, we also picked up trash throughout the neighborhood because taking care of our community means more than just showing up with supplies.
A huge thank you to everyone who supports our mission and helps make our programs possible. And as always, thank you to Caring For Friends for helping us provide meals to nearly 100 people every Wednesday!
Today, Dee also made a trip to Delaware County to drop off blankets, snacks, and a pair of sneakers to a friend currently experiencing homelessness with her dog. We're hoping she chooses treatment when she's ready, but until then, we do our best to meet people where they're at. Support from organizations like Zallie Family Markets and ShopRite of Knorr Street makes it possible for us to continue helping people during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
ARTREACH is coming up fast, and we're hard at work behind the scenes getting everything ready. We're incredibly excited to give local youth an opportunity to learn, create, and express themselves through art this summer. In this video you'll hear Mal Love say he'll do whatever he wants with his camera because it's his right.
Honestly, that's exactly the mindset that many of us have a problem with.
What's even more disturbing is the use of Meta glasses and other hidden recording devices to film people who are often in the most vulnerable moments of their lives. If you're proud of what you're doing, why hide the camera? Why not be upfront with people about the fact that they're being recorded? Transparency matters.
I've personally had conversations where I was told those glasses weren't being used to record people, only to later see evidence suggesting otherwise. That kind of thing destroys trust.
But at the end of the day, none of this is surprising.
He's a content creator.
Content creators create content.
Nonprofits do outreach.
Those are two very different missions.
One is measured in views, clicks, followers, and engagement. The other is measured in meals served, overdoses reversed, people connected to treatment, families reunited, and lives changed.
If your goal is to truly make an impact in Kensington, support organizations that are actually out there doing the work day after day, year after year. Support the nonprofits, outreach groups, recovery organizations, and community programs putting resources directly into the hands of people who need them.
Support action.
Support impact.
Support people who are helping without expecting someone's worst moment to become content.
The people of Kensington deserve dignity, respect, and compassion. They deserve to be seen as human beings—not as a source of entertainment, engagement, or profit.
