The Blue Lives Project - 8105

The Blue Lives Project - 8105 The Project Blue Light Memorial Ride started with Vince Gibson His brother, Philadelphia PD Detective Joe Gibson, died by su***de in 2010. Police Dept. Film

In 2014 Vince and 2 friends rode in Joe's memory. Since then it has gown to become The Blue Lives Project 8105. The Blue Lives Project - 8105. Remember Their Lives, Honor Their Service. Dedicated to those in law enforcement and emergency services who have been lost to su***de. The Blue Lives Project -8105 has some goals. They are to continue to host the Project Blue Light Memorial Ride annually in

memory of those lost. They are to honor the lives and the service of these dedicated law enforcement officers and other emergency services professionals. To let the families and loved ones left behind know that they are not alone in their grief. To bring awareness and understanding to the issues of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and depression. To release the stigma associated with the choice of su***de. PTSD is real, depression is real, and it is prevalent throughout the emergency services. It needs to be recognized and those suffering need to be helped, not shunned. Through awareness and understanding we can save the lives of those who choose to dedicate their lives to protecting and saving others. Although the project was started in the recognition of police su***de, we honor and recognize all factions of law enforcement and emergency services. IT’S NOT HOW THEY DIED, IT’S HOW THEY LIVED

Dedicated in memory of Detective Joseph Gibson Badge # 8105 Phila Police Dept. Detective Joseph Gibson was a 15 yrs veteran of the Phila. Sadly on Dec 26, 2010, My brother took his own life ! Detective Gibson's brother, Vince Gibson established the Project Blue Light, memorial ride for Honor, to bring more awareness to Law Enforcement Su***de Nation Wide. The ride is a Free Event

The first ride took place on July 13, 2014. It was a 20 mile ride, from the Phila. Police Academy to south detectives. With a police es**rt, Vince plans to make this ride a National event every year. Because to many officers, nationwide have fallen to su***de! These officers are not honored for their service to Law Enforcement. The ride was covered by Action News at the police Academy, on State Road, and aired that night on the 11 pm news. Vince has often said, that when, people ask him why he is fighting for honor for his brother Joseph! His one simple answer is! My brother dedicated 15 yrs of his life to the Phila. Police Dept., and to Law Enforcement. What people don't know is, that when a Law Enforcement Officer died by su***de, they are never honored by the Dept. they served, and they are also, not honored by the Law Enforcement Memorial wall, in Washington D.C . even though, on the wall in it says: "It is not how they died! It is how they lived!". In fact, President J.F.K., declared that when officers become a disability, they are to be honored on the wall! What the Board Members of the wall.do not recognize is that, P.T.S.D is a disability, and that, these Officers National wide, served with Honor, and have placed their lives on the line - In the line of duty - and for their service, their names belong! on the wall in Washington D.C. I will fight this battle! for honor of my brother! Until my last breathing day! If it takes that long ! In my brothers memory, i have designed the - Project Blue Light - T Shirt 's

Every attempt to seek help and benefits is blocked and fought. The City of New Bedford is the latest to challenge the severity of PTS and whether or not an officer should be allowed benefits as a result.
He was evaluated by three physicians appointed by the state’s retirement commission, who unanimously agreed his condition results from what he experienced as an officer, and is likely to be permanent.
The physicians concluded that he could not safely continue working as a police officer, according to records Oliveira provided to The Light.
The city, however, says that Oliveira’s condition may not be permanent. An evaluation from a city-paid physician in January concluded Oliveira can be helped with treatment, after which he can return to full duty.
The city-appointed psychiatrist affirmed a PTSD diagnosis, but wrote it was resolving with residual symptoms. The psychiatrist also wrote Oliveira was engaging in “symptom exaggeration,” and that the reporting of his symptoms was occurring in the context of “anger at his employer,”

Three physicians appointed by the state’s retirement commission agree Jacob Oliveira’s condition is likely to be permanent, but a city-paid physician concluded the condition may be helped with treatment.

When Police Die by Su***de, Their Loved Ones Often Lose Benefits. Pennsylvania May Change That.
First responders suffer high rates of su***de, but when those deaths aren’t classified as line-of-duty, their families can lose insurance, pensions, and other support.
