The Rail Park

The Rail Park We’re the official organization bringing a vision for 3 miles of urban greenery, a new kind of park in Philadelphia, to life. Phase One (.25mi) is now open!

We bring community together through nature, free programming, and the arts. Our mission is to build bold, transformative, and inclusive public space that connects Philadelphia’s residents and visitors to the city and each other. Through cross sector partnership and community collaboration, the Rail Park will transform a historic railway into three miles of linear park and pathway, enriching the health, culture, and ecology of the city, and creating inclusive opportunities for Philadelphians.

Our seasonal Bloombox fundraiser is kicking off this week, fill your garden at home and help the park grow!

Starting April 15th, use code TRP15 at checkout and 15% of your sale will be donated to the Rail Park to support park growth, maintenance, and programming!

Bloombox has houseplants, trees, and even a pollinator-specific section that we're particularly fond of (it includes Eastern Redbuds like these!). Fill up your cart and don't forget the code!

Join saxophonist Mervin Toussaint and his band as they perform a late-afternoon set at the Rail Park as part of Philly's second annual Jazz Month! With the city as his backdrop, Mervin will perform as the sun lowers and light filters through the trees along the park. Bring a picnic and enjoy a Sunday evening where jazz blends with the rhythm of the city.

As we've been working through our Community First Plan, we've heard repeatedly that people want venues to hear jazz in their neighborhood. We hear you and this is something that we've put together based on your feedback.

Thank you to Creative Philadelphia and their partners Mid-Atlantic Arts, Jazz Philadelphia, and WRTI for making this happen!

Join us on Saturday, April 18th at the Chinatown Community Park for a hands-on course on how to grow herbs in terracotta pots in your own home!

Participants will learn the basics of growing herbs, explore what it takes to start a community garden, and plant a terracotta herb garden to take home.

The first 25 participants are guaranteed a free terracotta pot, along with a starter plant or seeds, soil, and the use of gardening gloves. If you are planning on arriving late, please consider bringing your own pot or gloves!
