Our Story

The Same Stream Choir is a professional choral ensemble based in the Philadelphia area under the artistic direction of James Jordan.

The choir formed for the first time in the summer of 2015 to make a short, four track recording called: “The Same Stream: The Inaugural Sessions”. The Same Stream was formed out of an overwhelming desire that these singers, all of whom are graduates of Westminster Choir College, felt to continue singing together. Many of the singers in this choir sang under James Jordan’s leadership as members of the Westminster Williamson Voices, one of Westminster’s prestigious select choral ensembles.

The Same Stream ©, as stated above, was born out of a closely knit family of singers who share a common experience and are dedicated to what it truly means to sing together. Drawn from the Grammy™ nominated choir, the Westminster Williamson Voices, we are deeply dedicated to continuing to do what we discovered together through our shared experiences. The singers and conductor are bonded to a deep passion to continue and grow those experiences beyond our shared Westminster journey. We are performers, professional singers, teachers, composers, vocal coaches, conductors and music practitioners all with a shared common vision and belief - that the power of singing practiced within a connected community with shared experiences creates music with a deeply spiritual core. The ensemble champions the music of composers who have come from within this shared experience and also practice choral literature covering a broad spectrum of musical styles and choral colors.

Now an established professional ensemble based in the Philadelphia area, The Same Stream will see two major recording releases in 2019 one of which is “Serenity: The Music of Paul Mealor” set to release this Spring!
