Temple Women have been shaping industries for decades. ❤️

This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating a generational spotlight of alumni who continue to lead, mentor, innovate, and break barriers across fields—from sports and finance to healthcare, film, and community development.

✨ Nikki Franke, CPH ’78, ’88 – Olympic athlete, ESPN-named “fencing legend,” and the first Black woman to coach an NCAA fencing team. For nearly five decades, she has built champions at Temple—on the strip and in life—while mentoring generations of women leaders.

✨ Ellen G. Cooper, Fox ’85 – Chairman, President & CEO of Lincoln Financial, leading one of the nation’s major financial services organizations and shaping the future of the industry.

✨ Dr. Kellyn Hodges, DMD ’92, MS ’94 – Orthodontist and founder of a thriving regional practice, transforming smiles and serving her community with excellence and care.

✨ Chinonye Chukwu, MFA ’10 – Award-winning Nigerian-American filmmaker and the first Black woman to win the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at Sundance for Clemency. Her storytelling continues to move global audiences with films like Till.

✨ Melissa Kim, MS ’10 – Director of Community Impact at LISC, advancing racial justice and championing creative, community-centered solutions to complex urban challenges.

Across generations, Temple women continue to redefine what’s possible—lifting others as they rise and strengthening the Owl network year after year.

Here’s to the past, present, and future of Temple women. 🦉💪

You might have seen Amy around at some of your favorite Temple games because she loves sports and attends as many athletic events as she can. Make sure to say hi if you see her out cheering our Owls on!

As winter continues to plague us in the NorthEast, it is fun to look back at brighter days like our After Glow event. We can't believe it was already a month ago now! We had a great turn out with a relaxing yoga session hosted by fellow alumna, Rebecca Curry, MPH, followed by lots of laughs during the gift exchange. Thank you to all who joined us and made the event such a success! We hope to see you at our other events planned for this spring (and warmer weather too)!
