Penn Microfinance seeks to educate and empower students through partnerships with microfinance institutions, hands-on experiences, and networking opportunities. Every year in mid-spring, students at the University of Pennsylvania welcome industry leaders, non-profit organizations, and academics in order to discuss the challenges and accomplishments of the microfinance movement and look forward to
the next year. Penn Microfinance strives to be an effective social impact group by establishing partnerships with microfinance institutions around the world. Currently, our students work with MFI’s in Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Nicaragua, and the United States in order better serve their clients. Every summer, our project teams travel across the world to observe microfinance in action and to aid these MFI’s . Penn Microfinance is also focused on education and research concerning the microfinance movement. We are always looking to improve the infrastructure that exists in the industry as well as raise awareness and understanding about our work. Penn Microfinance is a student group at the University of Pennsylvania.
