Ralph Lauren ACCT-A-246670 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Ralph Lauren must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, APRIL 10TH at 10AM. Should Ralph Lauren's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Ralph Lauren came to ACCT Philly as a stray on April 2nd due to an injury on his paw. He had been fed by people in the neighborhood, but they noticed that he needed more help and brought him to the shelter. He is suspected to have plasma cell pododermatitis, also known as pillow foot, but a biopsy is needed to confirm the diagnosis. He has been prescribed doxycycline and gabapentin, but may require steroids or other immunotherapy if it does not respond to treatment. Ralph Lauren's finder described him as friendly, cuddly, and sweet. While he's understandably scared in the shelter environment, he backs away rather than reacting. Due to his medical concerns, Ralph Lauren is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 4/7: Ralph Lauren was in his feral den and hissed as I opened the kennel door. I reached into his feral den with a popsicle stick. When I lifted it towards his head, he backed away, but then I presented it and he sniffed it. When I tried to touch his paws with it, he backed away. He watched it when I moved it around. I returned with the fake hand and he once again hissed when I opened the kennel. He sniffed the hand with flaring nostrils. I was able to pet his front leg with it and he adjusted but did not move away. I then pet the top of his head with it, with no reaction at first. When I moved it down to pet his back, he hissed and shifted back. He lip licked when I began touching his head again. He never tried to bite or swat, just hissed and backed away.
Per staff 4/4: I went to visit Ralph Lauren and he didn't seem like the happiest camper. He was lying down in his feral den, and his breathing would increase & his nostrils will flare. He hissed at me when I put my phone in to take a picture, and scrunched further back into the feral den. He let me touch his paw & head lightly with a tongue depressor and hissed after I removed it. Seems scared.
Per staff 4/2: Examine after neuter — wounds — abscesses on front right arm and possibly other places — was not super excited about being handled — hissed/spits.
Per finder 4/2: He's a stray that goes between our houses. He's been indoors when it's below freezing, otherwise he stays outside. He did not bite or scratch anyone — he's gentle. Friendly, cuddly, shy, scared.
MEDICAL NOTES:
4/3 Vet Exam: Sedated assessment performed at time of neuter. All four paws have puffy/pillowing pads. Right front metacarpal pad is completely ulcerated with thick bed of red granulation tissue present. None of the other paws have ulceration, but they are still puffy and enlarged. There is hair loss and old healed wounds around his forearm. He favors his right front paw which has the ulcerated paw pad, and prefers to hold it up rather than using it to walk. He tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Ralph Lauren is suspected to have plasma cell pododermatitis (aka pillow foot), but a biopsy is required to confirm the diagnosis. Current treatment recommendation for pillow foot is doxycyline and approximately 50% of cats show a good response within 2 months of treatment and therapy is continued until the issues resolve, then discontinued and monitored for recurrence. If no response to doxycycline, steroids or other immunotherapy such as cyclosporine, may be necessary. He has also been prescribed gabapentin for pain. If his condition is not improving/resolving and no placement is found, then euthanasia is recommended to prevent ongoing suffering.
4/2 Intake Exam: Ralph Lauren was presented with what appeared to be abscesses on the inner area of his right front leg. He was given a Convenia injection, with further assessment planned for during his neuter. He weighed 10.1 pounds and was in stout body condition. He was estimated to be 3-4 years old.

Mannie ACCT-A-247137 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Mannie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH at 10AM. Should Mannie's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Mannie came to us on April 8th after being found injured in a front yard with an upper respiratory infection and a suspected injury to his hind end. He arrived a bit dehydrated, with a dirty coat and some matting, but his spirit was clearly intact. He may have a bit of a grumpy look, but he adores pets and neck scratches and has been nothing but affectionate during his time here. Once he's cleaned up and on the mend, he's going to be a wonderfully handsome boy. Mannie has an older pelvic fracture with some remodeling of the bone. He would benefit from an orthopedic consult to determine whether he needs surgical repair or if the injury can heal with cage rest and pain control. Due to his medical concerns, Mannie is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 4/9: Such a sweet boy! He may have a bit of a grumpy look, but he absolutely adores pets and neck scratches. Once he's cleaned up and feeling better, he's going to be an incredibly handsome and wonderful cat.
MEDICAL NOTES:4/9 Surgery: Mannie was neutered and had entropion surgery performed on his right eye. He tested negative for FIV and FeLV.
4/9 Vet Exam: Mannie has entropion of the right eye with mucoid discharge, and mild waxy debris in both ears with no nasal discharge. He has mild dental calculus and multiple missing teet. His hindlimbs are abducted and splaying when he walks; he is able to move short distances but with an abnormal gait. His coat is diffusely matted. Pelvic radiographs showed a fracture of the ischium or pelvic symphysis, suspected to be an older fracture with bone remodeling of the left ileum. An orthopedic consultation is recommended to determine whether the pelvic fracture requires surgical repair or can be managed with cage rest and pain control.
4/8 Tech Exam: Mannie came in weighing 13 lbs with a body condition score of 3/9 (thin) and mild dehydration. He is estimated to be 8 years old. His right eye had yellow discharge and his left ear had pus in it. His coat was dirty and possible dental disease was noted. He showed muscle wasting in the hindquarters. He was prescribed pain medication, eye ointment, and antibiotics.
