It is derived from HAUSA which is a language predominantly spoken in Northern Nigeria and in some States of West Africa. Yankasa Association- Philadelphia Chapter was inaugurated on ……, 2010 with the sole purpose of assimilating Ghanaians from all ethnicity, cultural and religious backgrounds to work towards a common goal of mutual cooperation and interdependence. A Not-For-Profit Charitable 501(c
)(3) religious institution responsible for articulating the interest of its members socially, religiously and culturally within the tri-state areas. Today, as result of the indispensable and tireless effort of the founders of this Association, its facility located in 3408 Haverford Avenue, Philadelphia 19104 has become a social settlement where the community congregates to worship and engage in other social activities. To promote unity, trust, understanding and togetherness among our members in particular and in the general Ghanaian community.
2. To strive for the elimination of all forms of discriminatory practices within our members, within the Ghanaian Associations, among Ghanaians, and in our beloved country, Ghana.
3. To endeavor to make our members law-abiding, peace-loving and hard-working productive residents and citizens of the United States of America.
4. To promote the lawful interest of members in every possible way and at all times.
5. To consider the possibility of aiding members financially and/or morally in times of need or distress, specifically, such as: Marriage of members and their children, Naming ceremonies of members' children, Bereavement of a member or of his/her spouse, parents, children, and siblings.
6. To advance the true course of the social, cultural and religious values of our members by organizing Eids, Maulids, Abalabi, etc.
7. To establish avenues to share with our members our common interest and to educate ourselves and our children to fulfill our common values.
8. To maintain our proud record as a founding members of the National Council of Ghanaian Associations, to promote its aims and objectives and to support its rules and regulations.
9. To carry on any other purpose that is reasonably necessary to enhance the main objectives of the Associations.
