Today’s Corner Pop-Up with the Office of Safe Neighborhoods was a powerful example of what happens when community, service providers, and law enforcement stand together for safety and opportunity.

Huge shout out to all the partners who came out and showed love for our neighborhoods: Philadelphia Anti-Drug/Anti-Violence Network (PAAN), the Gun Violence Initiative, Nicetown Community Development Corporation, Councilwoman Cindy Bass’s Office, and the 39th Police District Advisory Council.

Big shout out the commanding officer of the 39th Police District, Captain Dana Bradley, and the dedicated officers of the 39th.

As the Commanding Officer of the Northwest Police Division, I was grateful to be out there with my people, engaging directly with stakeholders , listening to concerns, and connecting families to critical resources and opportunities.

This is what meaningful, consistent engagement looks like, working side by side to prevent violence, build trust, and invest in safer, stronger blocks across our city.

Stopped by to stand with our community partners in the aftermath of a tragic homicide. In moments like this, presence matters—and so does partnership.

Grateful to connect with organizations on the ground doing the real work every day:
• Father’s Day Rallying Committee
• EMIR (Every Murder Is Real)
• P3 (Pushing Progress Philly)
• Men Who Care of Germantown

Each group was out there providing resources, support, and a message that our community will not be defined by violence.

This is what it looks like when a community comes together—healing, supporting, and pushing forward. We will continue to stand alongside our partners to bring resources, accountability, and hope to every block we serve.

Today was a strong example of what partnership looks like in action across Northwest.

The men and women of the 14th Police District, alongside our Community Relations Bureau, rolled up their sleeves for the Philly Spring Cleanup 2026 at Finley Recreation Center in Mount Airy. This wasn’t just about cleaning a space—it was about investing in a community we serve every day.

From clearing debris to refreshing shared spaces, the work done today helps create a safer, more welcoming environment for our youth and families. Finley Rec is a cornerstone of Mount Airy, and maintaining it takes all of us working together.

Appreciation to every officer, community member, and volunteer who showed up and put in the work. This is what community policing looks like—presence, partnership, and pride in our neighborhoods.

The standard is excellence—and today, the 14th District delivered.

Officer Heim is more than just a dedicated public servant—he’s my friend and my brother.

A seasoned veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department serving in the Northwest Division, he has committed his life to protecting our communities. But his impact goes far beyond the badge.

For over two decades, he’s been on the baseball field as a coach in the very same neighborhoods he serves—guiding young people, building discipline, and shaping futures.

That’s who he is at his core—consistent, committed, and always giving back.

Proud to stand beside him and call him both a colleague and family.

Today we stood together in solidarity for survivors.

At Love Park, members of our community came together for Teal Day in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month ( ). This powerful show of unity sends a clear message: we believe survivors, we support survivors, and we stand with them.

Moments like this remind us that awareness leads to action—and action leads to change.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke out, and continues to advocate for a safer, stronger community.

On this Resurrection Sunday, I want to extend my sincere congratulations to Melany Nelson, Executive Director of Northwest Victim Services, for her unwavering commitment to serving the citizens of this city.

Today, my church, Great Commission Church Philly recognized Melany who helps to resurrect our city through her dedication, service, and impact. She consistently shows up for those in need, providing support, advocacy, and a steady presence during some of the most difficult moments in people’s lives.

As the Inspector of the Northwest Division, I have had the privilege of working alongside her and witnessing firsthand the care, professionalism, and compassion she brings to this work every day. Her efforts continue to strengthen not only the individuals she serves, but the fabric of our entire community.

Congratulations, Melany, and thank you for all that you do.

From Germantown to Mount Airy to Roxborough, officers across the Northwest Division, including supervisors from the 5th, 14th, 35th, and 39th Districts, were actively deployed today to safeguard the First Amendment rights of all individuals participating in the “No Kings” protest. We remain committed to protecting the rights of all citizens while preserving peace across every neighborhood we serve.

Honored to be part of the Mayor’s Roundtable for Fraternal Organizations and HBCU Engagement here in the City of Philadelphia.

Being in the room with so many committed leaders—each bringing different perspectives, experiences, and solutions—reinforces what real progress looks like. This work is about collaboration, shared responsibility, and building strategies that make our city a safer, stronger, and better place to live for everyone.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute, listen, and move this important work forward.

Honored to join in this week’s Asian New Year celebration, marking the Year of the Horse.

Alongside my colleagues from Police and Fire, we were graciously invited to Chinatown to break bread with members of the Asian community and celebrate this special occasion together.

Moments like these strengthen the relationships that matter most—building trust, understanding, and unity across our city. Wishing everyone a prosperous, healthy, and successful New Year.

Honda vehicles are being targeted.

Car thefts can happen in seconds—but a simple step can make all the difference.

🔒 Use a steering wheel lock
🔒 Make your vehicle a harder target
🔒 Stay aware of your surroundings

A visible deterrent can stop a thief before they even try.

Don’t become a victim. Lock it down.

Stopped by the 39th District today where Captain Bradley and her officers partnered with Women Against Abuse to support a powerful cause. They set up a resource table at ShopRite (2800 Fox Street) to raise awareness about domestic violence and connect residents with critical services.
