Quilting for Good

Quilting for Good Quilts are so much more than a blanket. Come be part of it!

We’re lively people who enjoy creating quilts
and giving them to families living in a homeless
shelter, women escaping an abuser, and
hospitalized children and their families.

With 7 quilts from Cut & Sew PHL and 17 from us, Melissa (of Cut & Sew) and I delivered two dozen quilts for Camp Erin this morning! If you're not familiar with Camp Erin, it's a free grief camp for 6- to 17-year-olds who've lost a loved one. (A quick aside to baseball fans - the camp was founded by pitching great Jamie Moyer and his wife.) It is wonderful to be able to provide these quilts from so many of you! Thank you all who pieced tops, quilted, and added binding or made an entire quilt! You all provided more than one fourth of the quilts they need!👏❤️👏

Congrats to Clelia, Karen, Sarah, and Carol, who created bright blocks from donated fabric Homesewn this past weekend! Kristie G, who led the community sew, quickly assembled the blocks into a quilt top. They were super productive and created enough blocks for a second top!

We were given these lovely, lively quilts by Susan Rumpf Miesnik, Kate Miesnik Moyer, and participants in The Patchwork Project, brainchild of Kate Moyer, owner of The Sewing Room. They are making a difference. We'll deliver these quilts and others they made to Philadelphia's Ronald McDonald House, which supports 147 children and their families as the child is undergoing medical treatment.

A shout-out and thanks from Women Against Abuse --

Quilting for Good is a powerful example of community care in action. Founded in 2023 by three Mt. Airy neighbors, this volunteer-led group creates handmade quilts to meet unmet needs across Philadelphia. To date, Quilting for Good has donated 72 quilts (and counting) to Women Against Abuse clients—offering warmth, comfort, and a tangible reminder that someone cares. For survivors rebuilding their lives, these quilts are more than blankets. They are symbols of safety, dignity, and connection—wrapping families in compassion as they begin again. We are deeply grateful to Quilting for Good and its network of community partners for helping cultivate healing, one stitch at a time. https://www.womenagainstabuse.org/2025-annual-report

FYI - Q4G donated 72 quilts in 2024 and 2025 to women, determined not to return to an abuser, who are part of WAA's transitional housing program. Thanks to all who created quilts for these women and their children.
