The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation would like to extend a special invitation for YOU to join our 2026 Healing Hearts Team that will participate in the Broad Street Run this spring in Philadelphia, PA on May 3, 2026.

🏅In order for guaranteed participation in the Broad Street Run, you must RSVP to The Barkann Foundation by February 6th by filling out the Runner Agreement Form, which is linked in bio.

Upon completion and receiving receipt of your form, you will receive:

1. A special link to register for 2026 Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run. This link bypasses the lottery and is guaranteed registration for the run. Each runner must individually register themselves with this provided link for entry to the run.

2. A link to your Healing Hearts Broad Street Run Team Fundraising page. Runners commit to fundraising a minimum of $300 that is due in full by 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday 04/27/2026.

On this fourth night of Hanukkah, we share with you the third family being supported through Holiday Hearts this season—

This family is navigating an incredibly challenging period, and any support would make a meaningful difference in their lives.

The father, a devoted single parent to his three sons, ages 15, 13, and 10, has worked tirelessly to build a stable future for his children.

Despite his best efforts, the family recently endured over a month without essential utilities like electricity or gas—a hardship no parent or child should have to experience. He had to pay over $1,000 to rectify the situation.

To compound everything, the boys have not seen their mother in three years while she awaits residency approval from another country.

Despite the challenges, the children attend school everyday with a positive and caring attitude. Teachers describe the children as honorable, polite, respectful, and cool.

The father recently started a new job at Amazon and is doing everything he can to get back on his feet, but the financial strain remains overwhelming, making it difficult to even purchase food.

Your generosity would provide this family not only with essential relief, but with hope and reassurance that they are not alone in their journey toward stability.

On this 3rd night of Hanukkah, we’re sharing here about Ms. T and Family - one of the Holiday Hearts 2025 families, local to the Philadelphia area, being supported this season through your generosity:

Ms. T is the undisputed “Auntie” of her neighborhood, a beloved matriarch whose name is synonymous with unconditional love and unwavering support for everyone.

During the pandemic, her extraordinary commitment shone brightest as she personally ensured vulnerable neighbors had access to food, often loading her SUV for vital deliveries for the entire neighborhood.

Her compassion extends far beyond the community.

After several years of fostering three children, ages 10, 11 and 13, Ms. T made the ultimate commitment by legally adopting all three children and embracing the lifetime role of mother again after having already raised her adult son. This powerful act demonstrates a rare degree of dedication, transforming temporary care into an enduring, forever family.

But it comes with a financial cost. As the permanent adoptive parent of three young children, the state benefits Ms. T received as a foster to aid in their care discontinued.

Ms. T works tirelessly to give her children the experiences and guidance needed to succeed, constantly reinforcing the importance of kindness and mutual care.

This dedication to both her immediate family and her wider community perfectly embodies her personal creed:

“when one of us wins—we all win.”

Ms. T is truly an angel on earth who is profoundly deserving of help this holiday season to ensure that her children are provided for heading into the new year.

On this second night of Hanukkah, we wanted to share about the M.J family - one of the Holiday Hearts 2025 families supported this season:

On what started as a warm, joyful Sunday in March, a family’s life was shattered in an instant.

A mother, father, and their young children were on their way to a family birthday party when tragedy struck — a devastating car crash that claimed both parents’ lives.

The children survived but suffered unimaginable injuries and heartbreak: their five-year-old son (now six) suffered a fractured pelvis, severed spinal cord and a concussion – he is now paralyzed from the waist down;

his almost five-year-old sister sustained a fractured pelvis and a concussion. His now 14-month-old sister was uninjured.

All three of the children as well as their almost 19 year old older brother, who was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash, are left without their parents’ love and guidance. Their grandmother, who has just lost her daughter, has courageously stepped in to care for her grandchildren, one of whom now requires a wheelchair and daily assistance. She has retired from her lifelong career as a social worker to provide the care and stability they desperately need, but she faces overwhelming financial and logistical challenges.

Your support can help this family rebuild their lives — providing accessibility, stability, and hope where tragedy has left so much loss.
