Last Friday was straight community in motion.

At The Alan Horwitz "Sixth Man" Center, Powered & Operated by PYB, thousands of families, young people, and community members came together to celebrate Eid.

This is what a real “third space” looks like. Praying, eating, and celebrating across generations, all in one space. Free food being shared, vendors selling, and young people enjoying bouncy houses and game trucks throughout the day.

At PYB and the SMC, basketball may bring people through our doors, but what we’re building goes far beyond the game. A safe, trusted place where relationships are built, young people are supported, and communities come together and grow.

Our space belongs to the community. From young leaders to coach-mentors. From PYB families to community partners showing up and celebrating together.

Moments like this show what’s possible when it does.

Thank you to the Germantown Masjid for trusting us, believing in our mission, and helping create an incredible, safe experience for everyone.

Due to the impending storm, the Alan Horwitz “Sixth Man” Center will close today at 4:00 PM and remain closed Monday, February 23rd.

The safety of our young people, families, staff, and partners comes first. Please avoid unnecessary travel and stay safe.

We will continue monitoring conditions and will share an update regarding Tuesday as soon as possible.
