I offer my condolences to the family of the security guard who lost his life at Macy’s Department store. Sadly yesterdays murder illustrates one of the crime summits recommendations which is “retail shoplifting can quickly turn deadly as well as having long term effects on Philadelphia’s small businesses”. People do not shop where they don’t feel safe. City Council will work with Mayor-Elect Parker to strengthen retail theft laws. Stay tuned.
