Check in with us to get updates about alumni events, programs, and news! I am an ancient Chinese supernatural animal, although I pretty much look like a goat with one horn. I have the power to detect guilt and can distinguish between the liars and truth-tellers. In the days of Shun (sage and ruler, circa 2200 B.C.) when the famous minister Kao Yao tried cases in which guilt was not certain, he would order Hsieh-chai (that's me) to butt the guilty. Those who were guilty would get butted, while the innocent would not. In other words, don't even THINK about stealing that extra burger at the spring picnic.

Please join us in congratulating Craig Linder L’07 on being named General Counsel and Senior Vice President of the Associated Press! In this role, Craig leads AP’s global legal function protecting AP’s journalism, intellectual property, and commercial and news gathering operations, as well as overseeing corporate governance. Before joining AP, he was at Dow Jones & Company for sixteen years, most recently serving as Vice President and Associate General Counsel.

A hearty congratulations to David Perla C’91, L’94 for launching Fairplay Law, an “AI-native” law firm focused on employment negotiations and disputes. Perla currently serves as Vice Chair and a member of the Management Committee at Burford Capital, and a Board Member at the Angeion Group.

The Law School is excited to welcome Michael Weingartner L’21 and Magdalene Zier as the newest cohort of Sharswood Fellows! Founded in 2007 by the Editorial Board of Volume 155 of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, the George Sharswood Fellowship program supports emerging scholars committed to entering a career in legal academia with two years of funding research, writing, and teaching.

Please join us in congratulating Clint Narver L’00 on being named Director of the Office of Compounding Quality & Compliance at the FDA. Previous to this appointment, Narver spent two years at McGuireWoods LLP as a partner and Co-Chair of their FDA & Life Sciences Practice Group. He also served as a Trial Attorney and, later, Assistant Director of the Consumer Protection Branch of the Department of Justice for nine years.
