🍂 Join us for a Fall Virtual Open House! 🌿

Curious about Mountain Laurel Montessori? Join us online to learn more about our nature-based Montessori program for children ages 3–6.

📅 Wednesday, October 14 | 7–8 PM
📅 Sunday, November 8 | 10–11 AM

During this one-hour virtual session, we’ll share more about our:
🌿 Montessori & nature-based curriculum
🌿 Daily program and commitment to community
🌿 Tuition options
🌿 Enrollment and application process

We’ll also leave plenty of time for your questions!

Following the Virtual Open House, interested families will be invited to apply. Families with an application on file will then be invited to our Prospective Families In-Person Open House in December 2026, where you and your child can visit our space and experience Mountain Laurel in person.

Building a school has been one of the most rewarding—and humbling—experiences of our lives. There have been long days, countless decisions, unexpected challenges, and so many moments of joy.

Through it all, we’ve been incredibly lucky to have a team that believes in our mission, adapts with grace, supports one another, and always puts children first.

Last night we celebrated an unforgettable inaugural year, a fantastic first week of summer camp, and welcomed Lars to Mountain Laurel. We’re so grateful for this team and excited for what’s ahead.

Please join us in welcoming Lars Scott to the Mountain Laurel Montessori team! 🌿

Lars joins us as an Assistant Teacher and brings a wealth of experience supporting children in educational and community-based settings. Most recently, they served as Director of the Extended Day Program and Assistant Teacher at Abington Friends School, where they focused on creating supportive, engaging environments that foster children’s creativity, independence, and social-emotional growth.

Outside the classroom, Lars is a musician who leads music playgroups and teaches private guitar lessons. They are passionate about building meaningful relationships with children and families and are excited to bring creativity, collaboration, and a calm, nurturing presence to the Mountain Laurel community.

An avid hiker, Lars often spends time exploring the trails of the Wissahickon. They are especially excited to be part of a school community that values outdoor learning, curiosity, and connection with the natural world.

We are thrilled to welcome Lars and can’t wait for our children and families to get to know them this summer and beyond. 💚

As part of our commitment to equity and inclusion, Mountain Laurel Montessori partners with Pennsylvania’s Child Care Works program to help make high-quality Montessori education available to more families.

We currently have one Tier 5 space available for the 2026–27 school year.

If you’ve ever thought Montessori might be out of reach financially, we encourage you to reach out. Many families are surprised to learn they may qualify for childcare assistance.

At Mountain Laurel Montessori, “Outside Every Day” isn’t just a slogan. It’s a core part of how children learn.

Whether they’re splashing through puddles, searching for worms, building in the mud kitchen, or observing the changing seasons, our children spend time outdoors in all kinds of weather.

After a year of heavy use, many of our (not so high quality) rain suits have quite literally begun falling apart. To continue providing daily outdoor experiences, we’re fundraising to purchase 20 new Oaki rain suits, a durable and high-quality option that will help keep children dry and comfortable while they explore. With these, we can ensure access to the great outdoors for all our learners.

Join us at the Pretzel Park Farmers Market on June 13 from 9 AM–2 PM for our DIY Bouquet Fundraiser! Inspired by the Montessori tradition of flower arranging, families will be able to create their own beautiful bouquets while helping us equip our students for another year of outdoor adventures.

What a beautiful day exploring our neighborhood! 🌱🚌.

Today, our students hopped on the SEPTA bus and headed to Henry Got Crops CSA and the Weavers Way Farm Market at Saul High School, a working farm right here in our community. From navigating public transportation together to exploring the farm, the day was filled with real-world learning and adventure.
We spent the morning following clues on a scavenger hunt across the property, greeting cows, learning how farmers keep plants warm and watered, and making connections between our classroom learning and the world around us.

One exciting surprise was seeing our compost from Bennett Compost come full circle as part of the growing process. The children were fascinated to see how food scraps can become rich soil that helps new plants thrive.

Of course, the highlight for many was tasting vegetables fresh from the ground. Sorrel was the clear favorite, with cilantro and carrot greens close behind! There is something magical about watching children discover new flavors while standing in the place where those foods are grown.

Experiences like these remind us that some of the best classrooms have no walls. Whether riding the bus, exploring a farm, or tasting something new, our students are learning that they are connected to their community and the natural world around them. 🌿
