Thanks to the leadership and support of Senator Vincent Hughes, we’re able to bring this opportunity to the community:

Our only request is simple but powerful:

This initiative is about one thing—
changing how our children see reading, and how they see their fathers.

🎤 Join Us for a Powerful Night at Temple University!

We’re inviting our community, friends, and especially all our 1990s Temple folks to come through for a special evening celebrating literacy, community, and the work we’re building with FathersRead365.

📅 March 23rd
⏰ 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
📍 Walk Auditorium – Ritter Hall Annex, Temple University

The evening will feature a special 20-minute preview clip of the documentary Reading is Love, executive produced by Brent Johnstone and Akeith Staples, both proud Temple alumni.

This documentary highlights the powerful connection between fathers, families, and literacy, and the movement we’re building through FathersRead365.

We’re also excited to have Bunmi Samuels serving as the moderator for the evening, guiding what promises to be an inspiring conversation.

This will be a celebration of:

🤝 Our growing partnerships with Temple University
🎬 A preview of the Reading is Love documentary

If you were around Temple in the 1990s, we especially want to see you there. Pull up, reconnect, and be part of an amazing night.

I just saw a recent FB post of a basketball event in Philly. 1st thing I noticed were fathers everywhere in the pic. It actually made me think.

Go to a youth sporting event and you’ll see it immediately fathers everywhere. Sixty, seventy percent turnout. Stands full of dads. Energy. Support. Presence. And most of the time, no one personally called and asked them to come. They just show up. That’s great!!!

Now look at back-to-school night. Report card conferences. Parent-teacher meetings. Schools literally reach out and ask parents to attend. And yet, in many communities especially communities struggling economically fewer than 20% of the men show up.

That’s the gap.

Men attend sports at a high rate. We need men attending school events at that same rate.

Because education has a higher return on investment than athletics. Every child depends on education. Very few will ever be sustained by sports. But education will shape all of them.

If we can show up for the game, we can show up for the education.

That’s the shift we need.
