July 29, Wednesday, 7PM at Lithuanian Music Hall - Australian-born and Nashville-based Kara Grainger is making her second appearance at the Lithuanian Music Hall, 2715 E. Allegheny Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Kara is a masterful guitarist, specializing in slide guitar - which invites comparisons to Bonnie Raitt, another soulful woman with serious guitar chops - but Kara has her own sound and style, and performs dynamically with her band. Šiandien vykusiame NATO PA Demokratijos ir saugumo komiteto posėdyje Lietuvos Respublikos valstybės saugumo departamento direktorius Remigijus Bridikis pristatė pranešimą apie saugumo padėtį NATO šiaurės rytų fl**ge.

„Rusijos naudojamos priemonės turi didelį psichologinį poveikį ir jas sunku atremti. Jomis siekiama atgrasyti nuo paramos Ukrainai, sėti karo baimę europiečių visuomenėse ir kelti nepasitikėjimą nacionaliniais sprendimais ir institucijomis“, – pažymėjo R. Bridikis.

VSD direktorius pasiūlė ir formulę Vakarams, kaip atremti Rusijos grėsmę: „Plėsti NATO karinius pajėgumus, stengiantis išlaikyti aljanso vienybę, ir remti Ukrainą. Tik nuoseklus kolektyvinis požiūris gali apsaugoti mūsų tautas, mūsų kritinę infrastruktūrą ir palaikyti mūsų vertybes, kurios vienija aljansą.“

The Battle of Žasliai, fought from April 2 to April 8, 1919, was an important early clash in the Lithuanian–Soviet War, where the newly formed Lithuanian army confronted much larger Soviet forces near the town of Žasliai. Although the fighting ended without a clear tactical victory, it was a strategic success for Lithuania, as it helped halt the Soviet advance toward Kaunas, the temporary capital, and demonstrated that the young Lithuanian state was capable of defending its independence.

The annual meeting of the Lithuanian Cultural Center will take place on Sunday, March 22 at 1:30 PM at the Lithuanian Music Hall.

The meeting agenda includes:

— review of financial statement & annual budget
— presentation of building renovations completed and upcoming
— review of bylaw changes to add social membership
— review of plans for our library and archives
— election of board or directors

Every member of the Philadelphia Lithuanian American Community who has paid their annual solidarity dues has equal participation and voting rights at the annual meeting.

Snacks and refreshments will be available.
