We are aware of an active shooter situation in a Jewish area in Montreal. We are continuing to monitor the situation and are in touch with local police. At this time, there is no known information that this is directed at the Jewish community.
Should anything change that impacts the Toronto Jewish community we will update accordingly.

Tomorrow, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia joins our neighbors in celebrating Juneteenth, marking the day in 1865 when freedom finally reached the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas.

As a community that carries the memory of our own journey from bo***ge to freedom (Mitzrayim), we stand in solidarity with the Black community. Juneteenth is a celebration of Black resilience, culture and liberation. It is also a profound reminder of our shared responsibility to show up for one another and work to build a better world for all. We wish everyone a meaningful Juneteenth!

Last week, our Jewish Community Relations Council, in collaboration with ADL Philadelphia and AJC Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey, brought a group of volunteers to Harrisburg to meet with elected officials, staffers, and community leaders to share some top priorities and concerns of the Jewish community.

Volunteers had the opportunity to hear directly from members of the general assembly, advocate for human services needs and security, and speak to the rise of antisemitism and the effect it has had on their own communities.
