Today Isn’t the End – It’s Just the Beginning
For years, being a Phillies fan often meant clinging to the final game of the season as if it were the last shred of summer. That 162nd game was the end of the line—a curtain call before months of quiet ballparks, stat sheets frozen in time, and the long wait for spring training.
But not this year. Not in this era of Red October.
Today’s regular season finale doesn’t feel like a funeral. It feels like a launching pad. We aren’t saying goodbye to the boys in red; we’re saying, “See you in October, when the lights shine even brighter.” The final box score of game 162 won’t define us. The true story is still waiting to be written in the postseason.
Think about how lucky we are. Other fan bases are packing up their jerseys and debating coaching changes. Mets fans are hopefully once again turning to, “Maybe next year.” Reds fans are hoping their spark was enough. But here in Philly, we get to keep the ride going. Our calendar still has baseball inked in—playoff baseball.
It’s a gift to not dread the end, but to anticipate what’s ahead. We’ve got the chance to see Bryce Harper step into another October spotlight, to watch Schwarber send baseballs into the second deck, and to feel the electricity of Citizens Bank Park thundering like only Philly can.
So today, enjoy that last regular season crack of the bat. Soak in the moment. But remember—it’s not the last game of the season. For Phillies fans, the real season is just getting started.
Red October awaits.
