Daughters Of Destiny & Purpose DOD&P IS A MENTORING PROGRAM
OUR GOALS ARE:
To provide girls with the tools necessary to navigate through adolescence.

To promote education and school retention.. For many years Vanita Poland had a desire to give back to the community by empowering adolescent girls. As a former School District of Philadelphia employee, Youth Worker and Parent Truancy Officer who managed and facilitated programs for girls, Ms. Poland knew firsthand how enrichment activities help students achieve and builds self-esteem. Destiny & Purpose was founded in 2013, but the program officially began in October of 2015, with an innovative series of workshops, field trips, and community service projects. It was also designed to encourage academic excellence, deter drug & alcohol use/abuse and promote abstinence, so membership is limited to students who are not parents. Workshops are held every two weeks on Saturday afternoons. The adult presenters are experts in their diverse fields, including but not limited to arts and culture, money management, social graces, and health and fitness just to name a few. Youth enrolled in the program range in age between ten and fourteen. From paper clips to field trips the program’s funds come 100 percent from fundraising and donations.
