People for Alternatives to Incarceration

People for Alternatives to Incarceration We are a group of ex-offenders and none ex-offenders who provides programs to help stop mass incarceration.

People for Alternatives to Incarceration is a non-profit organization based in Phildelphia. We are here to provide a one stop shop resource for those re-entering society. Despite what people are told, people re-entering society have a unique set of needs that are ignored by state, federal and local agencies and we are a group of people that want to change that. Doing so by providing the means to r

eally have a second chance, regardless of how many they may already have had. We believe that without the necessary tools that most so-called second changes aren't truly provided. We work to change that through our programs and support network.

General information

In the Philadelphia area, there are many people in state, federal and county prison who will be coming back to the area. This segment of the population is expected to come out and be reintegrated into society and be productive citizens, despite all that they experienced because of their incarceration and lack of outside support. Despite this expectation this is not the reality and yet there continues to be a lacking of sustainable programs to meet this pressing need. The fact of the matter is that mass incarceration is a business and like any business it's purpose is to stay in business. It is because of the lack of substantial programs that People for Alternatives to Incarceration was born. We are an organization that wants to put prisons out of business, to stop mass incarceration and to do so by providing programs that will eliminate the need to re-offend or to commit crimes.
